Have you watched him play ? He is dire ! He had about 4 good games in the title winning season apart from that he was shit. Decent impact sub but you need more from a 27 million pound striker. Keeping him at the expense of Tevez and Cavani is lunacy.

does anyone actually know if personal terms were agreed? if we havent agreed a fee, would we even have got permission to speak to him from ADL? confused.com

Someone should tell the idiot that Barcelona don't have a choice about Thiago if someone pays his buy out clause before the 1st August.

Everything else has been on here and in the papers for a week at least.

After flapping a little about this last night, I'd obviously like him at the club but not for over £60m.

Like 99.9% of posters on here I'm not ITK.

However, I get the feeling City have made their final offer and it has been turned down by Napoli. Even City, with FFPR hanging over them, and a transfer budget to stick to, have to be realistic, and have decided to move on to other affordable targets.

Thiago wants to stay and very likely will if Fabregas returns to Arsenal

Just think the money banded around is pure lunacy. Spending over 40 million on a player would be idiotic. Yes, of we have the money spend it and all, but Cavani isn't worth 54 million. He probably isn't even worth 35. Besides he's a player that loves to play on the counter, we don't play that type of football and won't in the coming season under Pellegrini. There are a few options for us, Van Persie was one of those and we missed out. We need a player who fits into the football we play/will be playing and Cavani doesn't fit the bill. It would be like fitting a square peg in a round hole. We need a player who's neat, has an excellent first touch and great ball retention. The only player I can see with all those attributes is Roberto Soldado. Brilliant goal scorer, neat with a ball and would be immense playing with our Spanish lads. He would come in a lot cheaper than Cavani and would be a much better buy for the football we want to play! Soldado, get him in!
