To be fair though matey he does have a point...I ve seen milk turn quicker than dzeko....

Honestly... and this is from a big Pellegrini fan who was defending him in the weeks leading to his appointment... people seem to think anything MP touches will turn to gold. It may not be as simple as that... he isn't going to make Dzeko's first touch improve, and no not all chances are going to be played to his feet with a gaping goal in front of him. We will not become a wingball team, that will just be an option and much of our play will still be intricate passing. For that reason + Dzeko's questionable mentality (unwillingness to jump for so many 50/50s, regular laziness), I'm uneasy about him being our main target man next season. He'll probably score a fair few but Mario Gomez and Javier Hernandez score, yet they have been marginalised at top clubs because of how little they bring to the whole team performance. Top teams want 'complete' forwards more and more these days, who involve themselves more in the game... Van Persie is a great example sadly. A Dzeko/Hernandez/Gomez is a great option to bring off the bench and use more sparingly though.

Dzeko, if he stays, will get more balls played into him now Mancini has gone, no matter who was to take over.

Mancini was awful at that aspect of football & City are one of the worst teams in the country for wasting crossing or diagonal opportunities.

How the fuck have you turned this into mancinis fault???
Fuck me...its edin on the pitch..its edin who should be jumping higher than a foot off the ground..its edib who should be busting a gut chasing and working the opposition..yes mancini didnt play with wingers but to suggsst edins form is down to mancini....

Facts are edin is not and never will be a prolific striker in our team.

I'm sure there will be more crosses but we won't become United overnight pumping them into the box relentlessly. And even with more crosses, it doesn't mean Dzeko will be on the end of them all and become a goal machine. I don't buy into the "get wingers and Dzeko will score 40 a season!" thing... does no one remember the many easy chances he missed (including that open net against Swansea)? I saw him put loads of headers wide or over the bar last season, often headers with absolutely no power.

If we just wanted goals, Gomez is available for £15million and he is a better finisher but he too offers little else but goals, which is why we should avoid him. Neither player offers much to the entire team game and Dzeko can't even hold the ball up as well as a Benzema or Ibra... how many times have we seen moves break down because of a poor touch from Dzeko or his annoying refusal to even JUMP for a 50/50 header against a defender?

For me, and we saw evidence of it so many times, Dzeko is best when we're in desperate need of a goal and hoofing everything into the box. He made an impact so many times off the bench vs. starting games when he often contributed little.

I just think that with Dzeko we have a decent striker but we're settling for second (or third) best when the chance is there to grab one of the top tier strikers. Maybe the last chance because it's hard to see who will be available in the next few years, at least until the next batch of £30million+ big names arrive.

I've taken this off-topic though, so... Cavani!

Or we can go for Jackson Martinez, a tall, strong striker like Dzeko but seems to have a better workrate and contribute more to team play. Scored 34 goals for Porto last season, could probably score 15-20 in our team next season and wouldn't demand to start every single game like Cavani. I honestly think this guy would be great for us. A lot cheaper than Cavani too so there would be more money to go after other targets, maybe anohter winger/midfielder or defender.

He does have an excellent goals return for us, taking into account his time on the pitch. Is he the forward to take us to the next level in europe, not sure but it would be interesting to see how he does with an out and out winger in the team. I would love Cavani, but at £52m, no. I think the player best suited to our style of play under Pelligrini, would be Lewandowski, a lot cheaper as well.

If we don't end up getting Cavani, I'd be looking to get Zlatan for a season or two. Ten times the player than Edin.

Dzeko is wank. Has anyone watched his performances over the last 2 seasons he's played well 4 times. I honestly can't believe people want him to stay. Pellegrini likes his teams to retain possesion and dzeko doesn't do that and has one of the worst pass completion in the league. And city's worst in last 2 seasons running.

Have to disagree.. I loved mancini, but his style didnt suit Dzeko..Lets see what Edin does under the new man.. I know we'll be pleasantly surprised..

If he has only played well 4 times then he must be doing something right because he has scored in a lot more tjan 4 games. Anyway lets bash Edin in the Dzeko thread. Id love us to sign Cavani but dont think it will be a disaster if we dont as long as we get the creativity totally sorted.

Dzeko is underrated.

He's scored vital goals, he just needs a proper run of games and confidence.
