Sick of seeing 'we don't play to Dzeko's strengths' - does that account for his half arsed efforts and inability to keep the ball at his feet?

I refer you to the last game against Tottenham.

He plays like that every game. He just took it to another level against spurs. Horrible player to watch as a fan.

Dzekos goal ratio last year was better than Sergios....sergio misses more chances than Edin...

And thats with Edin not playing to his strengths..

you do understand what playing to his strengths mean dont you..??

Players need to play to City's strengths, not the other way around.

You just can't set up a team to 'play to a player's strengths'.... there's 11 player's on the pitch, so it's impossible to cater to them all. Of course, some players might have speed, and others might have height etc, but often the very best players can make their attributes work for them in a range of setups / situations. If they can't, they rapidly become one dimensional players, and can be tactically played out of the game.

At times (in my opinion, we he has very little time) he's instinctive and quite potent. But the moment he's got a lot of time, his touch seems to elude him and he can look quite clumsy.

Lets not compare dzeko and sergio for fuck sake. Also dzeko attitude is appalling all he cares about is the name on back of his shirt. Watch aguero's reaction to every goal we score. We also didn't play to sergio strengths last year with our slow build up play.

We played to Aguero and Tevez strengths, yet Edin scored more goals.. and had less playing time..

What does that tell us..???

I'll disagree with that. I do think he lost it at the end of last season, as did a few others, but normally I enjoy watching him.

We play a fast technical style based around passing and movement. So unless we fundamentally change the ideology and direction of the club on the pitch we'll never 'play to Dzeko's strengths'. We'll increase the amount of crosses we put in more than likely but we WON'T be a cross-cross-cross team. We'll still be a possession-based team playing a lot of passes and Dzeko will continue to struggle to play a part in the intricate moves.

Some of his key problems are of his own making - such his struggle to hold up the ball and use his body strength and his unwillingness to show bravery in aerial duels when defenders are nudging his back.

There are even lower profile players who would probably suit our style more than Dzeko who find themselves more compatible with a Spanish style setup (ie. Soldado who has faster feet and is sharper). Dzeko would be better at a German club or Spurs or United, a more run-and-gun system. We aren't going to play such a system. Our football will be faster but it won't be balls out direct football. He'll never fully integrate here IMO, will always be a sense of square peg in round hole.
