But we have one winger!
Silva and Nasri are not wingers, they struggle when they play there so what's the point. I don't see us buying another and dropping them two so no I don't think Dzeko will be the target man at all. I think the club actively looking to sell and replace him tells you he isn't really wanted either.

Aguero is the main man. End of.
Team is built around him and we will succeed.
I think like his villareal days..pellegrini willprefer to have a tall target man upfront with kun as supporting striker with license to roam around and create chances..

He might be tall but Dzeko is not a target man, no real physical presence, not great at ball retention and wins very few headers.

Just to add that is that Dzeko struggles in positions in and around the box when surrounded by defenders because our build up was a bit predictable and laboured last season & and so space in and around the box was always at a premium and so only the fleet of foot would prevail & even Aguero & Silva struggled at times in this situation. Dzeko's movement off defenders closer to the half way line is pretty good and so if our play was quicker and more purposeful he will thrive - he does not just need wingers and crosses to score and be a success and an integral part of the team next season just quicker attacks.

Chelsea and Manchester City have been given further encouragement in the race to sign transfer target Edinson Cavani, as Napoli fans appear to have turned on him.

Both the Blues and Citizens have reported been trying to sign the Uruguay international, though Real Madrid have also been strongly linked with a move.

Things may be sped up now, as Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that Napoli fans have been putting up banners telling Cavani to leave Naples as soon as possible.

The report claims the 26-year-old speaking openly about his desire to leave the Stadio San Paolo has not gone down well with the Napoli faithful.

Chelsea and Manchester City could see this development as a positive as they attempt to convince the prolific forward to choose Stamford Bridge or Etihad Stadium.

However, the Premier League duo may be hard pressed to beat Real Madrid in the pursuit of Cavani, as the comments that have so angered Napoli fans are mostly about his dream of joining the Santiago Bernabeu club.

A 53million footballer should be able to fit in any team and certainly with his national team.
Yeah that Messi sure was a bum all those years for Barcelona when he was dire for his national team, wasn't he? Barca should have moved heaven and earth to get Lukas Podolski. Proper player there. Always performs for the national team.

You are comparing Messi with fuckin Cavani.. ?? Keep on you are doing a great job comparing a best player that has ever played the game with fuckin Cavani...
No. I'm not. What is wrong with you? Seriously. Here let me spell it out for you simply.

You can not judge a player by national team success and failure.

Easy.

I rather City pay the release clause on Isco than some silly amount to Napoli for Cavani. I value Cavani at 35, and even that I think is pushing it.

it's a damn lie that dzeko is bad with "quick movement" — basically all of his goals other than those from set pieces are result of rapid attacks, whether it be counters or simply just aggressive passing.

spurs away 2011:
4 goals all from quick movement

west brom away:
quick counter, ball to run onto

spurs home:
quick movement winner, decisive pass from silva

madrid away:
quick counter, ball to run onto

united away 2011:
quick counter, ball to run onto

qpr away 2011:
quick through ball from milner to run onto, dzeko creates opportunity and scores

dzeko is poor when we take 30 passes and two full minutes knocking it around 35 yards from goal. not coincidentally the team is shit in this scenario too.

we need to be giving edin final balls to finish, which we didn't do nearly enough (for any of our strikers) last season. it's not like his time at wolfsburg never happened: his goals there, as evidenced on YouTube, are result of QUICK PASSING THAT CAN BE INTRICATE AS LONG AS IT IS DECISIVE.

we literally had no offensive gameplan or tactics for the last two years other than relying on the innate talents of players. that's the reason all of our strikers—and midfielders too—were total shit.

p.s. and it's not that his contribution is shit in other areas, either. remember Arsenal away in the Carling Cup 2011, his pass to Yaya vs. Blackpool at home in early 2011 (his debut if I recall), etc.

Hope we DONT get Cavani...

The price is over the top!,that guy at Atletico (Brazilian) 20 goals.. at 15 mil.failing that torres 15 mil

We will all have to wait until the Confed cup is over and then some. I ain't getting involved in the Dzeko/Cavani debate not worth the effort to be honest.

I agree.

All this quick movement crap. City are all about fluidity and movement. We have players like Silva and Nasri constantly looking to find players in space, all it takes is a quick burst of movement from one of the strikers and there will be a chance. Our failures last season were a lack of an alternative option when Plan A failed and our strikers not being clinical enough. In the FA Cup final Aguero was making so many good runs off the shoulder but no one picked it up, Dzeko is always looking to do the same.

My problem with Dzeko is that he doesnt show enough passion on the pitch, I do not feel like he is giving his all for the team the same way I do with Aguero and Tevez, but I also believe I have at times jumped on the bandwagon of blaming all our problems on him. IF he has a bad game then he sticks out a mile.

I have seen Cavani play several times and he does look an extremely talented player. But for Uruguay so far he has been wasteful. It could be for a number of reasons. My concern is that the premier league is different to Serie A as Balotellis record shows. He is not worth the buyout clause but he would definitely be a quality signing. I would still let Dzeko have another season to prove himself under Pellegrini!
