Cavani to PSG (edit) or Real or Us...!

There is a Chelsea fan in work with me who is adamant, absolutely adamant that Cavani is going there. 50m euros plus a shitload of performance related add-ons.

Apparently that de Luarentiis was in London this week to discuss potential Napoli vacancy with RDM and Zola, and a meeting was scheduled to sell Cavani to Chelsea according to a good few Italian media outlets. I very much doubt this deal

Bollocks, De Laurentiis has stated that the release clause MUST be met in order to guarantee the sale:

From Italian press today:
De Laurentiis had a message for supporters that as long as he remains at the club, they need not worry.

“Cavani has a buyout clause. If someone comes to pay that clause, and the destination is okay with the player, then I cannot say no because contracts are contracts. We are good people and we respect them.

Di Laurentiis is the Daniel Levy of Serie A, such a stubborn cnut and unlikely to budge much on the clause add to that the 'interest' from Chelsea and it drives the price higher but if you factor in the £18-20M we got for Balo and lets say 12-15M possible for Dzeko that is 35+M i wouldn't begrudge stumping up an extra 20M for a striker that will improve us on an unquantifiable scale

Tbh i think we will take something like 17-20M for dzeko

i was thinking that as i wrote it but with the amount of 'anti-Dzeko' on here i thought i'd get shot down if i played it that high, all ends up, 40m from the sale of 2 strikers, that means only really a 15m outlay for someone of Cavani's class, it's a no brainer in my book

Stamford Bridge set to complete signing of impressive marksman.

Chelsea have reportedly agreed a £42.5m deal with Napoli to sign striker Edinson Cavani according to talkSPORT.

Blues owner Roman Abramovich had been eyeing up Atletico Madrid marksman Radamel Falcao but news of his impending move to Monaco has reportedly forced the Russian’s hand, pushing the billionaire into making an offer for Cavani that Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis appears to have accepted.

Chelsea have begun discussing personal terms with the 26 year old Uruguayan international, who is the top scorer in Serie A this term with 28 goals. Abramovich is said to have offered Cavani a deal worth £145k a week, a massive pay increase for the powerful forward.

The Stamford Bridge side could well do with alternative attacking options. Fernando Torres has proven something of a flop since his £50m move to the West London club, his latest goal drought having now run to 16 Premier League matches. January signing Demba Ba initially impressed but has managed just two top tier goals in 13 appearances.

Cavani impressed at Palermo before securing a move to the San Paolo and has scored a very healthy 103 goals in 137 appearances for Napoli.

Abramovich will hope that Cavani’s strength and directness will convert well to life in the English top tier as the Chelsea owner looks to improve his squad ahead of an assault on the Premier League and Champions League titles.
Not sure if this has already been posted. Bad news if true but thought you had to pay the full clause.

Fuck.

The one killer striker out there and Chelski have taken him.

£42.5M deal!?! ... ADL wanted nothing but the buyout fee!?

Right, so what are our other Forward targets this summer?

Chelsea haven't signed him... all the Chelsea stories originate at Mediaset which is hardly the most reliable source. When someone like Di Marzio says Chelsea are signing him, THEN worry.

Jackson Martinez? 30 goals for Porto this season and wouldn't be nearly as expensive.

Keep Aguero and Tevez. Sign Isco and Navas. Play 433 and we don't really need another striker. Guidetti as back up.

Agreed... just me worrying like a typical city fan!

Just read this from his agent who was on radio today...

"Releasing clause have to be paid for him to leave". Claudio Anellucci, his agent, stated: "I have no news, beyond the ones known by anyone. He's on a deal with Napoli, and the knot to be untied, amounting to 63 million euros, is to be paid in order to have him leave. Clubs interested in signing him will have to knock on Azzurri's door"

Could this simply be Napoli pressuring us or PSG into activating the release clause?

If we do that, I think we need at least one more player capable of playing either up front or on the wing. Do you think Pellegrini would fancy bringing a Chilean with him?

Not enough goals in this team for me unless Kun becomes more clinical. Neither Isco or Navas are prolific goal scorers, where would the goals come from? We need a hitman in front of goal, our chance conversion rate is awful and we can't risk another season of that on the hope Aguero and Tevez start scoring more. If we didn't sign a striker we should sign someone like Lamela, Bale, or Reus at least... an attacking midfielder/wide man who scores.

Doesn't mean anything. If I went and stuck a few hundred on Cavani to Newcastle, they'd be favourites bookies know jack shit

Well if you believe he's signing for chelsea there's a killing to be made at 10/1! Bookies especially those cnuts at sky know much more than the ordinary joe soap I can assure you.

Bookies sway transfer odds based on the amount of money put on each destination

More than any other wager going.

Chelsea would go to 1.5:1 if someone slapped 5gs on them

Bookies base their odds on the likelihood of an event happening. I worked in one for years. I can assure you there has been no contact between Chelsea and Napoli to date. If there was the least inkling that there had been contact there would be no 10/1 available. I'm not saying that there won't be contact in the future but as soon as there is the odds will reflect that. Hence why I've said if you believe the chavs are going to sign him then you should be filling your boots!

Any idea how accurate they are with their odds turning out to be correct and the favourite club signs the player?

As it stands we are in pole position I'd say. However if we already had a deal in place the odds would be more like 1/4. I wouldn't go raiding the savings just yet!
