Cavani isn't worth more than 20m? Haha.

As for him being similar to Dzeko. I guess you mean he is over 6ft. Thats where the comparisons end. Cavani is in a different league, superb finishing with either feet and head, very good dribbling and close control and also has a turn of pace. Also plays like he cares.

Agree we need more attacking options from midfield but why can't we have both Cavani and a AM.

Before people state FFP we will be offloading major wages this year in RSC, Bridge, Kolo and also possibly Lescott and Dzeko.

Of course we will need replacing defence positions but as I see it Rekik will be promoted to first team squad and we will purchase 1 decent CB.

We still need someone to score goals and Cavani as shown he can and will score goals and we don't want to lose out again.

We can't stand still as this season as proved.

You can include MArio's wage into that factor as well.

I can't create my own threads so i will post in all concerned

I was out dining last night at Australasia , sat on the table next to me
was Txiki Begiristain .

I was having the craic with him and i give him 5 names and he replied as follows

Messi - No
Neymar - Off to Barcelona
Isco - Yes
Cavani - Mancini likes him
Falcao - Yes

Taking it all with a pinch of salt but these were his words

interesting if you're not wumming.

He had photos to prove.

How do you photo what was said ?

It was rumoured a couple of months back Nike had a meeting in London to negotiate getting Ronaldo out of a addidas shirt and into a Nike shirt and whilst wearing his Nike shirt that he would also play for United whilst doubling his wages in the process, that would possibly leave United having to only pay a transfer fee.
My point being, if this is the way business is being conducted how do we know from the limited knowlage that we all posess on the transfer subject what is really going to happen.

Glad someone here is posting sense. If we buy Cavani within one season the following will happen,

1) Aguero won't be happy not being the main man
2) Cavani won't be happy not being the main man

It's got Dzeko written all over it. Even playing Tevez with Aguero like we're forced so often to do isn't a good idea, they're both strikers, and one of them really should be a world class ACM.

4-3-3, 4-2-3-1, whatever we end up playing, the man at the centre of it all should be Aguero. If Aguero is off to Madrid in a season then fair doos, bring in Cavani. But if he isn't, signing more top class strikers won't mean we score a load more goals.

Silva and Nasri. That is the extent of our attacking midfield if you (wisely) omit Sinclair. If you can name me a single european elite team with only two ACMs I'll show you a god damned liar.

We've built a criminally one dimensional team. The solution is not in replacing our out of favour dedicated centre forward (who will go to a team playing to his strengths and start banging them in again), with another even more expensive dedicated centre forward.

This. This. This.

Also, Cavani £52m, Falcao £45m WTF

Aguero > Falcao > Cavani

Uhhh noooo.
Aguero is more well rounded.
But Cavani and Falcao are massively better at finishing chances and being in good positions
Goals like Aguero's at the swamp this season are fairly routine for these strikers
They can score a goal out of nothing consistently

Seriously shut the **** up.

It's statements like that which make people look very stupid.

Cavani has a tendency to hit shots first time, which I like, he doesn't need to have loads of touches like Dzeko.

I prefer Cavani, but if Madrid are serious as rumoured to be, then we may not have a good chance because he is reportedly keen on playing in Spain.

You don't think one of the best strikers in the world is worth more than £20m? Are you sure?

Hilarious.

I'm sure Napoli are asking too much but the idea that Cavani is worth less than we paid for James Milner or Dzeko or...

We overpaid for Milner at £24m. There is an "English tax" due to home grown rules. Milner in truth is worth no more than half that. He is a workhorse with very little technical ability.

Dzeko was also overpriced at £28m or whatever it was around that.

Cavani isn't as good as Aguero or Tevez in my opinion. And he certainly isn't cheaper than retaining either or both of them. Why waste all that money?

I concede that Cavani is better than Dzeko but please don't detract from the main point I was trying to make. That signing another striker for top dollar won't solve our problems.

You've seemed to of missed out option 3?

They both improve and feed off each other, to just dismiss the fact they wont compliment each others game is ludicrous

Well, a PSG link looks like a total tabloid concoction.
Leonard denied that PSG were interested in Cavani. Cavani himself reportedly denied the rumours linking him to PSG.

Couple of things:

If you play both Aguero and Cavani, you cannot have the width we need unless you only have 2 midfielders protecting the defence which isn't enough as we have seen this season.

Therefore you have to play just 1 or have 1 of them operating wide which doesn't work in defensive shape and negates their threat.

Pointless playing both. Therefore, why buy? for all that money for a substitute?

Confirmation that Cavani left his wife for a girl working as a supermarket's cashier. Surely very soon he'll need someone good in accounting

Obviously about to make a BIG move....

Impressive for Napoli playing the counter attack.

Usually looks shit for Uruguay in their system.

I don't think he would suit our system, could be a terrible waste.

Watching him for Uruguay I had the same impression. If we do splash the cash I sincerely hope that my impression from internationals is wrong. Of course he scores loads of goals in Serie A so lets wait and see. After watching the Uruguay game in the last international break I then watch the Argentina game. I have to say that Higuain had a brilliant game (I reckon they will win the Cup). His finishing was superb. Looked a better player than Cavani.

But of course I will bow to Txiki's greater wisdom on these matters.

Forgive me for not jumping with joy, but Fbloke isn't exactly the fountain of all knowledge when it comes to transfers. Will get more excited once it starts gathering speed with more reputable sources.
