We just need more goals from our midfield. Milner and Nasri scored like 4 goals or so

Martinez is the answer

Too expensive for Bayern Munich. Latest rumour is that the Germans are interested in buying De Jong off us instead:

Bayern Munich have turned their attentions to Manchester City midfielder Nigel De Jong after cooling their interest in Spain international Javi Martinez.

Martinez, also a mooted target for Manchester City, has been on Bayern’s radar for the past year, but chief executive officer Karl-Heinz Rumenigge admits his side are unlikely to sign the Spaniard after describing Athletic Bilbao’s £31.3m valuation of the midfielder as "indecent".

And according to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Bayern will now pursue a move for De Jong, who is tipped leave City this summer.

De Jong, who joined City from Hamburg in 2009, managed just 11 Premier League starts last season - a far cry from the 60 league starts he racked up during his first two full seasons at the club.

The 27-year-old is out of contract at City next summer and manager Roberto Mancini is reportedly willing to sanction the sale of the Holland international, who is available for a fee of £7.8m.

Yes a midfielder that scores once every 10 games or about 4 a season

A midfielder who not only gives us a a goal every now and then, but who creates opportunities, who moves the ball quickly from defence to attack.
Javi is a good finisher for a midfielder and also a very good header of the ball, both offensively and defensively.
He's not the type who gets the ball around the halfway line and stops play, passing backwards, waiting for others to move forward or to take the ball away from him. In that way he is so much different from De Jong, who would be the main contender for his position in the squad.
He makes things happen, gets the ball forward and has great positional awareness.
He's like Busquets in many ways, but equipped with a greater physique and tackling ability.

So yes, he would add more goals from the midfield.
And he would make it harder to score against us.

I love the way this post no matter how long it is does not prove that Martinez will score more than 4 goals a season he is at the moment

^^^^^

Yaya Toure only scored 4 goals in 3 seasons for Barca. Now does that make his purchase a mistake.

Javi Martinez isn't an attacking player. He's a defensive player who'd be bought to play alongside Yaya covering him whilst he goes forward and would be cover at CB, we would put Barry at CDM if he goes CB.

If you want advancing Midfielders look at Moutinho, Modric, Sahin etc. They'd sit at CM and drop deep as well as push forward. Martinez could do this but he isn't as good as any of the 3 I mentioned at advacncing. Like I said he is a defensive player.

Mainly as we use Yaya in a totally different way to the way he was used at Barca but Martinez would practically be a NDJ replacement. IF Silva who plays a fee role is only scoring around 4 a season for us I cant see Martinez being the answer to are scoring from midfield problems

Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani wants to leave SSC Napoli. This news was confirmed on Monday by Cavani’s agent, Mino Raiola.

“If Cavani had the possibility of leaving, he would do it immediately, but that possibility depends on the club team’s president Aurelio De Laurentiis,” declare Cavani’s agent to the press.

Raiola went on to state that Napoli’s owner should sell Cavani, especially when the player has lost his motive to play for the club. He continued by saying that 50% of his player is not really all there to play for the Neapolitan club.

The agent concluded by saying that he does not know what will happen with Cavani’s future with SSC Napoli, because he has no direct contact with the club’s president.

Since the Uruguayan star had a superb season last year, it was somewhat expected by many soccer analysts that Cavani would possibly move on to a bigger European club like Barcelona from Spain, Manchester United from England, or even Manchester City.

For now, Edinson Cavani will concentrate with his national team that is participating in the London Olympics

This could be the most interesting saga this summer. The craziest agent vs the craziest president....could get very ugly. Napoli president was asked about Cavani wanted more money, he said he will not get more money and if he cause any problem i have no problem letting him play with the kids. Can you imagine an English club saying that, i have no problem putting my star player with the kids lol
