"Cedric" Boyata

Yeh did well I thought. Especially considering he is alongside Lescott. Not that Lescott is a bad player but he is not a natural leader and Boyata has always strikes me as needing a leader alongside him like Kompany.

I think Pellegrini rates him but wants to build his confidence back up after some awful loan moves more before he plays in anything other than cup games right now.

They didn't pose much of a threat but he was very calm and neat & tidy with what he did have to do. Fairly comfortable on the ball too. keep playing him in the cup give him a chance to prove he's good enough as the opposition gets better and maybe he can push himself ahead of the likes of Garcia as backup.

Apart form Ameobi? When he went of, both Lescott and Boyata looked much more comfortable.

Well played 'Cedric'. He improved as the game went on. A clean sheet and it was pleasing to listen to his post-match interview on the official site. It looked like he was still coming to terms with the experience.

I still think that he has loads of potential. It's just a matter of learning from players like Vinny and Joleon, and putting those lessons into practise out on the pitch.

His defending was ok, but on the ball it was always going to be a riskless sidepass. It's why he and lescott forced Garcia to drop back to get the build-up going. Boyata and Lescott are both very fine squadplayers that will do their job when the opposition is not high-standard. None of them is close to Nastasic imo.

Possibly.

He was very good for us until he got sent off against Arsenal then was pretty poor at Bolton and quite terrible really at Twente.

Thought he did well tonight though.

He looked the part at FB and CB until Crappenberg ripped off his pocket getting the red card out. Was never the same since, but last night he looked to be shaping up to his old self. Thought Joleoninho was good too. When's Micah gonna realise he can't run through the wall of a brick scheisshaus?
