"Cedric" Boyata

I dont understand how some people can slag him off but not give any reason. 'Rubbish' 'not good enough' 'League 1 player'. He is obviously better than that. People seem to assume that because he struggled when he was loaned last year, he is automatically this terrible player. He is not, he is a talented defender and a useful member of the squad. Just remember when he made his debut, against United, in the cup. Man marked Rooney, who was in his prime at the time completely out of the game. If someone who can do that on their debut is a poor player then please explain this to me. I am not trying to trade on past glories, but there is obviously ability there. Playing alongside and working with players like Lescott and especially his compatriot in Kompany will do wonders for his game. Do not write him off just yet.

Excellent game tonight.

His game is going to improve in leaps and bounds under the Gaffer and with Vinny teaching him.

I think those that have written him off may well eat yet more humble pie. And by the way he did well against Bayern and the tackle he pulled off was a great tackle.

Couldn't agree more with everything you've said. I do think he has the ability but just lacks experience and confidence. He will get that this season if we can have good cup runs. He certainly looked more comfortable than JL when bringing the ball out of defence.

Did ok last night but hardly a big test

I've seen enough of him and Garcia to prefer him at centre half though!

even if i had never seen him play I would prefer him at centre half over Garcia

Fortunately our Managers seem to have more patience than some of our fans. I thought Coyle had some cheek being all pally with Boyata at the end. He must have thought 'why couldn't I make him play like that'. He has a few of Vinny's ball carrying abilities maybe even more that Nasty but he is no where near as good a defender - yet. I think they will all learn from Demechlis, who has been around the block a few times - Dedrick certainly should. It would be ironic for Bobby if people like Kolorov, Dezko and Dedrick (who he gave a debut to ) eventually came good for someone else.

I'm like that in bed with most women.

ah ahaha

yes!

(I have to agree with you there - although I skip the bed part)

I've always liked Boyata, although I hasten to add, not in the Biblical sense..

Given i've only seen highlights of last nights match I might be wide of the mark but, from the little I saw,he looked impressive again?

So why does he not get more of a look in?
