Thought he did well to be honest looked comfortable on the ball and bringing it out of defense

We all know he is a decent defender but considering he has played very very little i though he looked extremely good

I don't rate him dctid.

He's got no brain for a footballer. He has the physique and is strong in the tackle without a doubt but in a top quality game against Premiership opposition he is found wanting time and again.

You can teach technique but not a brain and he hasn't got a football brain.

Not going to make it. End of story.
Bollocks, apparently Walcott doesn't have a footballing brain, and although I dont really rate him, theres no questioning whether he's made it or not. Any one that can keep drogba quiet for a whole game at the age he was clearly has some talent.

I think you can get away without having a football brain on the wings. Your decisions are more costly in central defence.

I remember he should have had 2 penalties awarded against him in the Chelsea game and we would have lost that one. Mancini himself after the game said he shouldn't think he is a good player based on that performance. Soon after he got his straight red in the 2nd minute against the Arse.

I remember 3 seasons back when he ducked under that cross in the League Cup and Shrek headed home. Didn't they have to substitute him towards the end of the second leg because he completely lost the plot ?

You may say he's older and wiser now but he's had so many chances out on loan. He couldn't get a regular bearth on loan to Bolton who were struggling.

I'm not entirely convinced he's changed that much and I'm still thinking of the 'clumsy' challenge in the pre-season right on the edge of the box, was it against Arse or maybe Munich when he got a yellow.? Whether it was foul or not it was reckless to throw yourself full-blooded into the challenge in or around the box like that.

Anyway, no doubt he'll get another chance and we will see one way or the other.

That was one of the best challenges ive ever seen, the ref got it very wrong and you want to blame the player? Its football like that which makes me watch the game.

Not good enough, for some reason Mancini played him ahead of Lescott and Boateng, he made countless mistakes. Juve away sticks in my mind. Garcia whilst being slow at least as a centre back he can be a threat in the air.

Well maybe I'm being harsh on him. I just don't see he's got much.

I hope I'm wrong. If he comes good it saves us £25 million on a central defender and so good luck to him.

The challenge was clumsey. You are asking for problems doing that anywhere near the 18 yard box. Any ref not getting a clear view is bound to blow for something - I agree it might be seen as a good challenge around the half-way line.

Excellent game tonight.

His game is going to improve in leaps and bounds under the Gaffer and with Vinny teaching him.

I think those that have written him off may well eat yet more humble pie. And by the way he did well against Bayern and the tackle he pulled off was a great tackle.

spot on matey

the more game time the better he will get and he was good last night ok its wigan and the league cup but you still need games like this to bring him on
he just to learn from vinny about what and where to place himself on the pitch
its not just about picking up the strikers learn what strikers like and don't like
but like I said its all about getting game time

good game last night and offers cover on the bench for the first team

Sorry, but I don't think he's good enough and will not become a regular first teamer.

In the game last night, he nearly got caught on the wrong side of the striker on at least two ocassions in the second half, I couldn't tell how bad he was in the first half, because my seat in Level 1 of the Colin Bell didn't afford a good view of his positioning then.

Whilst he does show glimpses of talent, he has a major tendency to 'switch off', luckily we didn't get punished last night because of it.

Like other posters have already said, I just don't think he has a good football brain, he doesn't read the game well, which gives the appearance that he isn't concentrating at crucial moments.
