Alonso wouldn't work I think, that would still leave us with a problem of not being mobile enough in midfield when Fernandinho is out. Preferably the player we get is one who can the dirty work and has decent distribution. Matuidi, Matic and Fernando sound like good options, would be crazy for the club to not make a move for a mid this month.

So the club has gave up on the 30m plus wages we had invested on Garcia and Rodwell.

Maybe not we could loan rodwell out to someone to get him game time and part ex garcia.

I prefer we get Nemanja Matić. I'm sure he'd love playing again in england alongside 2 serb internationals. Then we loan a back-up right-back and call it a day.

I'm still all in for Gündogan, not CL tied and young. May be one of the most expensive alternatives.
