Centre back options

Sanchez is incredibly error prone he switches off 2 to 3 times per game like Mangala did.

De Ligt is less error prone but he fucks up in the exact same way as Stones because they play the exact same game.
We need to sign a fully developed, proven centre back who can take charge when Kompany is out, not gamble on another kid with potential. We have that in Stones, we don't need another in the centre of defence.

While i agree i'd sign De Ligt in a heartbeat if the chance was there

In theory we could get rid of kolarov and otamendi and replace with an established top class centre back and one with loads of potential like De Ligt. That would be perfect. Very unlikely though and assuming we will only sign one CB this summer (if that) then a proven player would have to be the priority.

Can't wait, but agree that both can't go in one window. Kola probably costs nothing on the market because of expiring contract, selling him now makes no sense.
Ota, on the other hand...Would be disappointed if he isn't replaced by this summer's end.

Unless we need the money, it would make more sense to keep Otamendi, then see where we are upto with him this time next year.

If Stones is still dropping bollocks a year from now, it would be close to time to reassess whether or not he's actually any good. Then Kolarov would surely be leaving, we have no idea of Kompany's condition by then.

It would be better imo to have Otamendi there in case the other options turn out much worse.

Then if all is well & we don't need him, move him on.

Spot on, Idk how can anyone take such 'news' seriously.

How can you be so confident in Stones? He'll get better, but when? And to what extent? He's a terrible 1-on-1 defender, not sure if that can be fixed. And should we just let him learn, ruining our title chances? I'd like to see a rising star like Laporte or Ajax CBs, not another temporary repair. Oh, that would harm Stones? Who cares? Let the strongest survive.
Stones is our Future Captain stop being so negative he needs to improve everybody knows that. It was his first season with a lot of pressure next season he will be better. Be positive and look and the bigger picture.

Are we really talking about signing Ajax's CBs? Both young and inexperienced, would be great to sign them and loan back or to a different league but in our first team? Absolutely no chance that will happen. Far from the level we are aspiring to. Sanchez was especially bad in the Europa League final against a 6th place rag team, he gave the ball away in dangerous areas numerous times. Stones is much, much better than him. De Ligt on the other hand is 17 and could develop in to a top class defender but right now is not even close to playing for a top team in a top league.

@Easy Think you're seriously underestimating them, they aren't that much worse than 3 of our CBs right now. Loan or rotation is debatable, but that's the situation with wordclass talents - you're either getting them young or not getting at all. Would you prefer de Ligt to be snatched by Madrid one day? Or make your move in advance?
Getting readymade players is important for us now in the light of Komps' health issues, but let's not forget about higher longterm goals.

I can't see how all the players we are 100% signing & now Dembele & world class CB are going to be signed.

It smells like we are flushing teams out & making them move.

Dembele talks have got to be telling Sanchez to make noises. There's no room for Dembele-Sterling-Jesus-Aguero-Sanchez-B Silva-Sane

I thought that Ajax defender in the final against Utd was top quality. But that was one game. I've seen Stones play some great games. We need to be sure that whoever comes in is going to have the bottle to stay assured when they are the main man at the back.

IF we are lucky Ederson or Bravo settle down, and the job of being the main man at the back will be so much easier. Will be good having Alves on the right for example.

I was really struck with how assured Bravo was for Chile. He was their captain and their whole game revolved around him with the way they play it out from the back. He was in charge of the team. At City he's on the periphery. Language problem maybe. Question of him asserting himself in the dressing room? If we get someone who takes charge at the back. Hart used to shout at everyone, then it makes it easier for everyone. maybe then players like Stones can settle down.

I still have a feeling Laporte deal is back on

A bit offtop, but I'm sure B.Silva was bought for N8 role, so -1. And if the rumours about Alexis AND Dembele have any ground, I see Aguero being sacrificed (I know Khaldoon said otherwise, but I'm just trying to apply common sense).
Wonder what the price of GK, Silva, Alexis and 4 Fbs is going to be? Will we have budget left for more signings (FW, CB)?

Manolas didn't turn up for zenit medical because of Chelsea interest, what's saying we've hijacked the deal and he's on his way to us.

Did we agree to sign Hernandez, left side centre half in summer 2018?

Just to add into the mix.
Just got a feeling this ban could be more serious than City are letting out & we are putting our eggs in 1 basket with £300m being spent hoping with the sales of Bony, Kelechi, Delph, Denyar, Fernando, Mangala, Nolito, Nasri, Kolarov & Zaba, Clichy & Sagna gone we are looking for the best part of £100m.

£78m already spent with Walker, Mendy & Bertrand another £100m, Alvez free, Sanchez £50m & then Dembele & a CB will be another £100m. It's to mad to take in for me it's either Aguero is sold & then both in or Aguero stays & a CB is bought.

With not able to buy for 2 windows after this Summer Hernandez looks dead in the water but doesn't let us buy Mbappa or Dembele next year either, hence why we are in for 1 of them & a CB.

I know people think it won't happen but could Aguero be sold & Dembele & Sanchez can fill in ifJesus gets hurt or needs rest.

Just don't see us signing all above unless all that list is moved out inc Sergio.

its sleep less nights with kompany as are main centre back we should never be in this mess and its been 3 seasons now still nobody takes the arm band of kompany and controls the defence its shocking and again we are in a hole because of others and a manager in pellegrini with very bad scouting in mangala and demichelis

stones is long term and will come good but pep needs a world class center back to grab this team by scruff of there necks and command and lead
