He lacks the concentration and positional sense,sure he can do a job against lesser opponents but he's a tad too indisciplined to be a top class centre half imo.

He is a definite right back.
 
I would have liked us to keep hold of Rekik. The lads a talent and would benefit from some first team experience. I know he'll get it in holland but I think he'd improve quickly in the prem.

He's getting regular first team football in Holland in a team that suits his game,his confidence will grow and he'll hopefully comeback a far better and experienced player.

Had he stayed here he would have been lucky to play half a dozen games and maybe become disillusioned much like Suarez.
 
I think Rekik is showing real potential to be competition for Nastasic next year, so Lescott can fill in for this year, but we need someone to be backup for Kompany, as I don't think Boyata is that player. I'd prefer a more experienced player with a bit of mobility to compliment our young left sided CB's
 
What I want is a young enthusiastic pacey defender who can play across the whole back line who understands how a high line works, has telepathic powers, is happy to sit on the bench or in the stands but is a world beater when called on.

What I gather from Pelle's last interview about the topic is that we are still actively trying to sign one. "We'll see" seems to mean that. If he had said "I'm very happy with the squad I have now, etc.etc." then maybe we could be led to think he had backed off it, but "We'll see" seems to indicate that we will get an announcement sometime within the next couple weeks if things go according to plan. So the answer is yes, we need a CB, because I'll trust the boss's assessment.

The Pepe idea bothered me at first but I've since come around to it. I suppose everyone deserves a 40th chance to prove they are not a t***.

(Because on a serious note, he is gifted. He would be useful to us, esp. in Europe. So maybe that's enough.)

Oh, if we can get Pepe... what a window this will have been. Demichelis is old but was excellent last year - is two transfers in the same window allowed, though?

Didi Hamann went from a free agent to Bolton to us in a few hours in '06. I think the crack is you can't play/be registered for three teams in a year or something.
 
If Txiki is off to Madrid to try and do any transfer deals I would offer £30m for both Pepe and Coentrao, that would be our defense complete ready for the season then.

Those two would be fantastic additions to the team.

Instead of a £30+ million transfer fee and wages on two players in Pepe and Coentrao, Why not sign Vertonghen or Agger for £20-30 million and they can play CB and LB while only costing 1 set of wages and you save around £80k a week and a squad place for somebody else.

You crazy man. Spurs and Liverpool are hardly going to sell their best defenders to us a few days before the start of the season and for reasonable prices too. :-)

(Spurs are screwed for fit defenders it seems right now too)
 
total brainless choices by city management, first city have to admit they cant buy pepe from real, simple reason they still need this thug to mess with barcelona only, real knows they have plenty of thugs in their team , but pepe is the king of them, any dirty team would definitely love to have his services in their team.

can i take u to task real quick? i can? ok thanks:
first off if u've been paying which you clearly haven't we aren't looking for a young pricey CB, we've already got 1 and another is out on loan this year whose show a ton of promise. we're looking for an older CL experienced CB to tide us over for this year and probably the next as a reliable backup/starter depending on the game. pellegrini knows he can't trust lescott in important games and mancini knew he couldn't last year either. have a look at this:

basically shows that nastasic got all the tough away games and lescott got all the easy home games. nastasic will be back but we need someone to fill in for the mean time cause lescott is not reliable at all. someone like pepe resolves this perfectly as hes big game proven and isn't completely devoid of pace
