I think they do but time will tell i would expect them to start selling players

If they had not given a shit then they would not have accepted the fine and instead they would have gone to arbitration but they didnt because almost certainly they thought they would loose (unlike us they have no real prospect of breaking even any time soon now their deal has been reduced)

If they dont think they can win an appeal then realistically they are unlikely to win any future appeals if they dont comply with the terms of the UEFA fine and the fines will only get worse

PSG free released Alex so I cant see them selling another defender without buying! Camara (who is 35), Silva and Marquinhos are currently they only CB's. Luiz looks nailed on to go there but even if he does that's only 4 CB's cant imagine a Champions league team starting a season with any less then that. We should sign Cesc and pick up a cheaper CB maybe Balanta, Laporta or Martinez who are young and could learn the trade for a season under MDM or the likes of Dante, Subotic, Agger(we were going mad for his 2 years ago) or Sokratis who would be decent shouts for a much more reasonable fee.

The reason for signing young players is a low fee with big potential, pay 15mil now instead of 40mil next summer. Kompany and MDM looked very solid towards the end of the season, and fully fit Nastasic with a solid pre season could be back to his best. We need another CB for cover and I would take Cesc and give Rekik a shot but I think he could be sold as he not first team football and cant imagine his being first choice here.

Demichelis got better late in the season but no way should he our starting CB.....I think he best fits a backup role or short term starter....you only need to watch the Barcelona game to see why we need to improve this area.....

Abu Dhabi is richer than Qatar.
Sheikh Mansour is backed by the state of Abu Dhabi, surely that is why Mancini thanked the king of Abu Dhabi in his fa cup winners speech. - I know that is not the official line but it has got to be true.
Sheikh Mansour bought us to promote Abu Dhabi. Why would he do this if Abu Dhabi were not involved in putting money in themselves.

When I say Abu Dhabi I mean the state and their money.

From the rumours I've seen this morning it looks like Marquinhos is on his way to Barcelona...

I dont think there is much difference between the 2 but I am positive I read somewhere PSG are richer. Individual wealth, the richest owner in the world is Deportivos i think, worth about 55billion. Only Usmanov and Abramovich from England make the top 10 for individual wealth.

When Kompany came back, Demichelis was leading the line and Kompany followed the line he set. If MDM is good enough for the Argentinian squad then he's good enough for another season with VK, and hopefully in this period, MP can run the rule over a fully fit Nastasic(!) and the returning Dutch International Rekik. The defence should now be on the same wavelength from the off, unlike last year, and we might save a packet by keeping things as they are at the back, especially if we land Fernando to protect them.

Is it done? Is Cesc Fabregas a Chelsea player?

Catalunya Radio are reporting on Saturday evening that Barcelona have accepted Chelsea’s €33m bid for midfielder Cesc Fabregas.

Should the story prove true, it will come to no surprise to the masses; particularly after Gerard Pique was recorded telling Spanish boss Vicente Del Bosque that Cesc had agreed to leave the Camp Nou for €33m during a press conference last week.

The news that Chelsea had finally got their man was first reported by Catalunya Radio’s Tot gira, who tweeted: “BREAKING. The club has decided to accept the offer from Chelsea for 33 million for Cesc Fabregas.”

Many Chelsea fans see the acquisition of 27-year-old Cesc in light of the club’s decision to allow Frank Lampard to leave Stamford Bridge this summer after 13 years at the Blues. Cesc is seen as the successor to Lampard in the Chelsea midfield.

In the French league it is clearly Rybolovlev (Monaco) - technically not a FRENCH team though.

The guy who owns Lyon is pretty wealthy but sort of runs it on the Arsenal model. Marseilles has the most in attendance and intrinsic revenue, but I don't know anything about their ownership.

Can't imagine any club past those is really up there. Bordeaux is owned by a TV network IIRC

You sound like you've been a fan for 35 weeks rather than 35 years.

If Demichelis finds himself marking Fabregas and Costa, then you'd have to ask what Kompany was up to. Defence is all about partnerships and what we saw towards the end of the season was a much improved partnership, once Demichelis was fit and the pair of them had developed an understanding. Out of interest, do you know how many league games we lost when the pair of them played together in defence?
