Mate, when you spend your childhood watching Luton Town score in the last 5 minutes to send you down, you learn to enjoy the highs but always keep your feet on the ground......a wise man admits his weakness and always wants to improve.....
I always expect the worst, but I'm also not bothered if we don't win anything next year whilst we take an FFP hit. I still think this year's team would be very competitive and if we avoided the amount of injuries we had this year could easily win the league again.

Still a better team than chelsea!
Winning has never been the main thing about being a City fan - don't let it become that now. Over the next 10 years, I reckon we'll win at least 5 leagues. If next year is an off year, so be it.

I agree mate......winning has never been the main thing about being a City fan.....but I have started to like it the last few years and wouldn't mind it staying that way!!;) thanks for your comments!!

Re: Cesc Fabregas

Just seen this on the daily fail website from Rob Shepherd:

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has asked all his top stars to lure Cesc Fabregas with kindness.
Mourinho wants to ensure Manchester City don’t win the £30m race for Fabregas who, as predicted here, has been shown the door by Barcelona. I gather Mourinho has told all his top players who are at the World Cup to say in media interviews how much they would love former Arsenal star Fabregas to join them at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea’s need to lure Fabregas has been heightened by the news that Brazil midfielder Ramires is a target for Real Madrid on the back of Frank Lampard being on his way to New York City.
Manchester City though are still strong candidates to persuade Fabregas given that they fear Yaya Toure will leave for PSG, who having signed Chelsea’s David Luiz, also want another Blue in Eden Hazard.

Pretty sure Yaya won't go but still reckon we're in the hunt for Fabregas hopefully!

Re: Cesc Fabregas

I would imagine cesc would rather us than chelsea and certainly pellegrini over mourinho! Am sure we've asked cesc to give us a bit of time to sort things and hopefully he gives this that chance.

This ! Besides Cesc would have to go against a 3 man midfield of Fernandinho , Fernando and Yaya . Cesc to Chelsea? I wouldn't lose any sleep over that .

Well you should. Fabregas and Costa would be immense signings for Chelsea.

D'you support Chelsea ? It's just that in the last 12 months it seems all you do is talk about how amazing they are, Mourinho is, and how far behind we are. Becoming a bit predictable.

Either I support Chelsea or I rate Mourinho much more highly than is the consensus on here, I believe Chelsea to be THE major domestic threat, and I actually believe that Fabregas and Costa would be immense signings for them.

I doubt it mate, there's no really a hint of us going in for him, and im sure we would have done it by now. I'm pretty sure hes Chelsea bound.

Im sure we have registered an interest but with us looking at not telling uefa to fuck themselves then jose is having a blast fucking us around! He will be revelling in our situation this summer and I do hope at some point we get the chance to return the favour!

Who cares who THE major domestic threat is. Whether it's Chelsea, Liverpool, or Arsenal they're all good teams. However the season just gone proved that ours was better. In fact, as it turns out Liverpool were better than Chelsea too. So for all your prognostications about how Mourinho was THE domestic threat last season turns out he wasn't.

Personally I think Mourinho's lost a little bit of his lustre in the last two or three years. Become far too influenced by Mendes and has made far too many decisions regarding players which are based not on footballing reasons but based on how much of a % him and Mendes will make out of a deal. That's a recipe for disaster.

If they sign Fabregas and Costa IMO they will be only marginally better than last season. Costa isn't the world beater people make him out to be. He'll do a job for Chelsea but will he do more of a job than say Lukaku would have done? No chance. Is he in the same league as Aguero? No chance. He might, might I repeat, have the impact at Chelsea that Dzeko has had at City, but ultimately there's a prime example of a Mendes deal rather than a footballing one.

Fabregas is even less important because Mourinho's system is incredibly predictable. His midfield next season will be Matic, Ramires + one of Oscar, Van Ginkel, or Fabregas if they sign him. In the immortal words of someone somewhere "do I look bovvered?".

Chelsea will finish further behind us in the upcoming season than they did last season. Mourinho will then be fired.

Re: Cesc Fabregas

Reading back it doesn't seem all cut and dried as the press would have you believe. As always clubs can agree fees with clubs and agree terms with players but as always the bottom line is does the player want to come to the club and play in the system you operate with the players and under the manager. From our perspective we have several players who Fabregas has played with before and knows we are an attacking side. He will further know that with the acon in February he will star in the Yaya role. Against us is the fact that he has a house in London and the move wouldn't be that much of an upheaval. However he will know the rivalry between Chelsea and Arsenal but I don't see that weighing on his mind too much.

It will be a close call and I haven't given up all hope until he has been booked in for a medical at Chelsea. If this deal influences how we can obtain the other signings we have to make and it takes a bit of time so be it.

Mate....I hate Chelsea but I agree with you completely......All Chelsea were missing last year was a striker.....if Chelsea had Fabreges and Costa last season I would argue that we might even have missed out on the league...if these 2 signings are confirmed they will be THE major threat...

well that's that sorted then, thank fuck we no longer have to worry about chelsea

Re: Cesc Fabregas

Just IMO I reckon Fabregas going to Chelsea will weaken them given Lampard has left, not a like for like replacement.

If Chelsea had Costa, who I'm not convinced about, and Fabregas, is he that much better than Mata,Oscar,Schurrle, Hazard (Chelsea's starting squad last year).
We would still have got 86 points, If we can improve on that, slightly say 90 points, Chelsea will need to be breaking records to beat us. I don't get this huge Chelsea fear.

Top teams worry about ensuring they play to their own potential rather than wetting themselves about the opposition.

Anyway the whole Chelsea love in has done my head in for 12 months. Can't believe the number of Blues on here who spent the entire season saying Chelsea were gonna win the league because Mourinho was a genius and had the "know how" in the PL. Turns out our PL rookie manager did better than him. On that basis like I said, I'll worry about Chelsea no more than any other rival. And yeah I think they'll finish further behind us and Mourinho will get the sack.
