Just looking at the coverage of tonight's match on tv, lots of pre game stuff on which I quite like, be a good build up to the game.

Tried to add up the total number of extra games in the whole tournament leading to the last 16 round. Under the existing system 32 teams played 6 games = 192 games. For the new format that will rise to 304 games. So 112 extra games, and quite a lot of extra revenue!

(P.S. 'O' level mathematics grade 5, 1974, so may not be correct)

As each team has to play another team there was half as many games as you've said in the previous format. There was 6 match weeks where each group had 2 matches and there was 8 groups. 6 x 2 x 8 = 96.

Assuming understood the new format there will 8 rounds of 18 matches = 144 matches - 48 extra.

More matches will cheapen the competition, so many dead rubbers with low attendances.

The present total number of matches is 125 which will rise to 189 under the new format. So 64 more matches which is just over 50%.

The winners/runners up will play 15 matches (could be 17) instead of the 13 at present.

Yes I know that, sorry if you thought I was getting at you. I just wanted to point out how UEFA are lining their pockets at the expense of the fans and players.
