Champions League Final | Istanbul or could it be moved?

If it is gonna kick off it’s far less risky to book a cheap getaway anywhere in Turkey (and cost effective) there are dozens of cheap internal flights, I had a holiday booked there when the last military coup kicked off, it only lasted a couple of days, TUI where great, they gave us the option to change etc free of charge, if there is political unrest/an uprising and it gets moved, no doubt it will be in a big city & a distinct possibility of it being very touristy, you could then change your plans for free
Do Turkish airlines fly to many other countries out of Manchester. Asking for a guy who may have booked some flights

That sounds really good advice - I will draw upon that wisdom in the future, unfortunately too late for me this time round.

I’ve also heard this rumour, I just can’t see it being true with the state of the Nou Camp.
Yeah same but only heard it from fans.

Nou Camp if we win or Wembley if Madrid win. Which doesn't make sense to have 2 choices of grounds. Wembley has a gig on the 11th so surely can't do both events.

I’ve just had a quick glance and in most cases there wouldn’t be a direct flight to places like Barcelona, I was brief when I looked, think he’s looking at being directed through Turkey whatever he does

I think it’s a bullshit rumour to be honest. I do think they’ll have a venue lined up already, I just can’t see it being Wembley or Nou Camp. They could fast forward the Munich final, but not sure if they book their stadium out for gigs.

It would be a good venue for City fans, closer than Istanbul and it’s within driving range if you fancied a bit of a road trip. But I’d have expected Barca to be cracking on with their renovation as soon as the season finishes.

Barca are desperate for cash - if the price is right from UEFA they`d push back the builders

I heard a rumour that the clubs are being advised to prepare for it to be moved to Barcelona.
In the unlikely event it moves, it won't move there.

1) The ground is a shit hole and is already under reconstruction
2) Real Madrid could be a finalist (hopefully not)

As someone who is waking up in Madrid on the Saturday morning regardless, can I put in a request for either Barcelona or Portugal?

They can’t move it now
It will ruin all the songs ffs
Not if they reschedule it for next season, we get another 12 months! suppose we could sing “where not going to istanbullll” it’s our destiny to win it in Istanbul so hopefully it stays there

Never knew it was Wembley next season, looks pretty boxed off with concerts this year unless they shift the date to midweek after the fa cup final, that would be a kick in the nuts for the players & fans

Barca is a great location but the Camp Nou is a shithole of a stadium. Apart from corporate areas it has probably the worst facilities for fans of any major European club. Parts of it are literally crumbling and none of it feels safe. Last time I was there they didn't even have bottled water for sale in my section in extreme heat. The policing is also terrible. Still there would be no problem with tickets with a capacity of 96,000. That said the Ataturk stadium is 15 miles from Istanbul with no facilities for fans either. UEFA really don't give a toss about supporters.

Just telling you what I've been told.

I would think it would be better off somewhere else than Barcelona, but I don't know what discussions have taken place and what assurances have been made. I really don't think Real Madrid getting to the final should influence anything about choice of venue. Barcelona came very close to reaching the final in 2010 at the Bernebeu but it would not have been moved.

I'm still almost certain it goes ahead in Istanbul.

I’ve heard this but they’ve already started pulling down the third tier. Barca aren’t even playing there next season due to major construction work starting this summer.

Pretty sure there’s a uefa ruling that any stadium for a champs league final cannot be used for three weeks in advance of the game

However - we all know about uefa and their rules !

With dodgy uefa if we do manage to get past Real they’ll probably move the final to the San Siro.
