Champions League Final | Istanbul Travel - Good to hear routes etc.

I thought I'd sorted everything Man- Bodrum with Turkish Airlines, 6th -14th, £274, change flights at Istanbul, when I try and book it there's no option for checked luggage. Is that because of the change at Istanbul, ie they wont allow it because of the timescale, less than 2hrs to wait for the connection? Anyone know?

Won’t your luggage go straight through to Istanbul?

Don't know mate, it just wouldn't allow me to have any checked luggage, I need my luggage in Bodrum where I'll be mostly staying. I gave up, now going 6th to 15th with Jet2, obviously direct and cheaper than the Turkish Airline flights. Booked it now.

Just a couple of pointers from someone who works in the travel industry and has skimmed through the last 2 days of this thread....

Indirect flights; if it's a 'through' ticket then you don't need to worry too much about missing a connecting flight as the airline has an obligation to get you to your final destination.
So Manchester - Paris - Istanbul booked with Air France for example means you are covered.

If you booked Manchester - Paris with Easyjet, and then Paris - Istanbul with Air France, they are independent of each other and you have no recourse should you miss the latter flight due to the former being delayed.

Lots of industrial action taking place throughout Europe so anyone booking separate flights involving a change en route that won't be protected by the airline need to give themselves ample time.

Quite a few people mentioning Skyscanner; it's a great tool however I would always advise to book whatever flights you find directly with the airline.
It might be a bit more than via a consolidator (lastminute/gotogate/opodo etc) however it makes everything so much easier, and they can't shaft you on a cash refund in the event of a cancellation by the airline.

Passport validity for Turkey is at least 150 days from arrival date, with at least one full blank page.
No visa required anymore for UK passport holders.

Watch out for roaming charges from your phone provider.

Myself and a friend picked up a £90pp return via Wizz Air from Luton when they launched the route earlier this year, so as much as I often enjoy the scramble for flights for European away days, was very happy to take a back seat on this occasion.
My guess is any official club trip/Spike organised trip isn't gonna leave much change out of a grand, but that remains to be seen.
