Champions League Final | Post-Match Thread

Correct, we've won 3 out of 4 titles, but tonight in the champions league final was a shit show, he's done well in the league and upto tonight he's done well in this year's champions league.
But no matter how much you wanna suck Peps cock, tonight's shit show was on his ego.
Fuck me go to bed you moron.

Sorry, but the ref had nothing to do with our lineup tonight. In other crucial matches, Pep's come with some curious team selections & formations, when that ref was nowhere near. What was Pep's excuse then?

What happened tonight is exactly what many of us feared. Chelsea treated us with respect, we took the piss & got what we deserved. Nothing! That was ALL on Pep! :-(
With all respect, I disagree. That team selection was ALL about the referee.
Pep has made weird selections in the past but I've always been able to match that to negating the way the opposition play, even when it didn't work out.
Tonight was all about negating the way the ref likes to control the game.
Both were maybe the wrong approach but there's no way anyone can convince me tonight's selection and hesitancy to close down and put a tackle in were nothing to do with our experiences with Lahoz in the past.

Over a 38 game season he's got basically not matches that deal with this kind of pressure

That's ultimately the difference I think. The pressure gets to him, and as such rational thought just goes straight out the window every time
Think you are right.

He is not going to win the Champions League with us.

Not a chance, he can not help himself.

He fucked us last season against Lyon, he fucked us tonight against Chelsea. Going back even further he fucked us playing Monaco away when we went out, we had a healthy first leg leea, and went there and conceded for fun. There was that shit show at Anfield when the tie was all but over in the first 30 minutes of the first Leg. And after a valiant effort in the second leg, we never recovered. Then Spurs away where we needed an away goal and finished with KDB on the Bench, cost us in the second leg.

He just doesn't look like ever succeeding in the competition.

I thought he had come of age this season. Found a formula that was successful in Europe. We even broke a record onthe way to the final.

And right at the final hurdle he can not help himself again, and becomes his own worst enemy changing a proven winning formula to an experimental unproven formula.

We will never, ever, get a better chance than this.

And we blew it, because he bottled it "again"

I think it was why Bayern were glad to see him go

The domestic success he delivered, was marred by his abject tactical failure in Europe.

It is where we are at now. We have a manager who will win us Titles. That is enough for some fans

But he will never deliver in Europe no matter what side he has.

Very telling his only success in Europe came with the best team to ever grace a Football field in the last 100 years. Nothing would have stopped that Barcelona side becoming European Champions.

If it is European Success our owners want. Then they might need to rethink.

He didn’t look like doing anything other than what he always does i.e. fucking up one on ones, tripping over the ball and running down dead ends…
He pushes their back line back with his runs, and maybe he gets lucky and kicks it to someone in a sky blue shirt by mistake...remind me of what Mahrez and Kev did tonight?

The whole team set-up was to accommodate Sterling starting, utterly bizarre.

If this was some kind of reverse psychological experiment to get a reaction from Raheem, at least afford the three lads in the middle a chance at making a press or tackle.
Absalutely gutted but not surprised

How the fuck Fernandinio was left out is a fucking shambles

Defending 1st half was shit & the quality from midfield poor
Accommodating Sterling fucked many positions up

Hats off to Chelsea they defended well & always won the 50-50 & 2nd balls

Only when Dino came on did we look like putting 1 on them fucki g can't believe Sterling was sho horned in to keep him happy utter bollocks

Monaco, Lyon, Scousers, FA cup Semi all bottled by Pep imo

I want changes at least 4 out

Sterling, Jesus, Mendy & Laporte if he doesn't want to fight

There is a very good interview with Domenec Totrrent in today's The Guardian, it is about Pep and it explains a lot about him, both as a person and a manager. Worth reading before people here made same rush and stupid judgments. He might have made some unexpected changes to our first eleven tonight, but it was the players in the end who didn't turn up.

He does it every season mate. This is nothing new
