I can't believe how long it's taking UEFA to announce the squad.

Shakhtar announced their squad a couple of hours before UEFA did yesterday, so I don't think we're waiting for them to announce it.

Chelsea did the same

Nothing stopping City announcing it first I suggest

Strange decision if you ask me. If true, of course.

Depends what Pellegrini's thinking is but if he had to leave one of the 4 strikers out then Jovetic would have been the one for me also. Purely based off Dzeko's goalscoring record, Jovetic just hasn't shown up enough in his City career to warrant getting picked ahead of the other 3 imo.

I agree. I think Jovetic is suffering from being a jack of all trades, master of none. Dzeko scores more prolifically and has proven he can score from the bench if required. We've added Bony and therefore we need someone who can cross the ball - the only player who can consistently do that is Kolarov and whilst we can cope if Clichy is injured - by playing Mangala or Zabba or Sagna there it isn't ideal. In terms of creativity, again, we have a lot of options further forward and can change formation to mimic what Jovetic provides. Yaya is equally creative in that no.10 role, Silva too though he won't shoot so often.

I would imagine Jovetic is on his way out in the summer, and if we look to Reus or someone of that ilk, Jovetic is probably the one you'd lose to cater for them.

4 strikers not needed if we play 1 up top, which we probably should against Barcelona and, if we're fortunate enough to beat them, the teams that remain. So 4 strikers does seem a bit pointless. People say sack off Kolarov because players can 'cover', but why have unnatural 'cover' and name 4 forwards (while playing 1) when you can have two real left-backs? I think the move is sensible on paper, because it leaves three who can play the lone striker role, but is really harsh on Jovetic who was crucial against Bayern. I guess his agent will be on the phone to Juventus already.

I suggested it should be Dzeko, number one because of his stats this season compared to Jovetic, secondly because Jovetic is more flexible and can play in a number of roles and thirdly because Jovetic has more energy and puts in a shift.

If it is Jovetic I sincerely hope that Dzeko realises that it could have been him (i.e. it's a striker that's lost out) and at least shows he cares and puts in a shift when he plays. If he doesn't then not only will Jovetic be even more pissed off I for one would be livid - not that he would care what I think :(

well one of thoes unnatural covers is zabba who is probably a better left back than kolorov is anyway and id argue that sanga is better defensively anywhere than kolorov as well

Kolorvo attacking contribution is hugely overrated and his defensive deficincies far outweigh his actual attacking prowess

Zabaleta would be far less effective going forward on the left and we know Clichy can't attack very well, so why deprive ourselves of our ONLY direct attacking option on the left? Kolarov has been bobbins but he is unique for us and could find form at any point, so I think it's correct to keep both proper left-backs and both proper right-backs. If you're chasing a game you want Kolarov as a left-sided option more than Zabaleta.

The only debate for me was: Dzeko or Jovetic? Assuming we plan to play a lone forward, then I guess that role suits Dzeko more in the event we need to use him rather than Aguero or Bony.

I guess there is some law not allowing Willy to be dropped or it could have been him.
