is it me or when we were drawn out instead of then drawing the group number out didn't they just say `oh man city can only go in group f`.......did I imagine that & if its so could someone please explain this ?

See my post on Page 99, 3rd post down.
thanks, seems its 20% luck , 80% fixed, so I`ll pull out of the CL cup scheme tonight I think.

Just one more thing on the TV pairings and then I'm done.

Why do they have to be decided before the draw? Who says that A,B,C,D play one night and then E,F,G,H play another night. Why can't anyone have a chance of going in any group (except the same country as another team) and then the TV companies can pair the groups? Because if that was the cause Roma could have gone into 7 groups instead of 4. Then maybe they could have pair A,C,E,G etc...or whatever combination balances out without it affecting the draw just the nights they play on.

Anyway enough withe the moaning, we'll get through I reckon, possibility of topping it, but the big hope is that I hope is doesn't affect our league form and vice versa.

How did they fix it?

Or to simplify the question, how did they fix it for Roma to be allocated to our group?

For a start the TV pairings bollocks lowered the odds to 1 in 4 instead of 1 in 7, its not a fix but their little shitty rules, increase the odds of certain scenarios arising.

It is what it is.

Previously we've had a group containing the Dutch, Spanish and German champions - teams in form - so let's take what we've got and look forward to some cracking matches.

I absolutely do not understand why this competition is structured the way it is. Talk about your uneven playing field. Fucking hate UEFA. Three years out of four we have ended up with the most difficult group.

We know what to expect with regards to Bayern and CSKA as we played them both last season but for me Roma are the ones to watch, in fact I had them down as a suprise team in this years Champions League so it will be interesting to see what they offer.

They have lost Benatia but they still have great leaders in Totti and De Rossi with great talents like Pjanic running their midfield

I still expect us to be able to get 4 points off them with a win at home and a draw away.

I want us to be targeting 6 points from CSKA, 4 points from Roma and try and get 2 or 3 points off Bayern.

If we can beat Bayern away in the first game I will maybe start believing that we can top the group.

I am excited this year because I fully believe we have one of the best balanced squads in the competiton, we may have inferior players in certain position but as a team I think we look strong this season so what not aim high and try and go for a tournament win?

The proliferation of both English and German teams means that there was always a strong possibility that we would come up against one again. I think this is proven by the fact that three English teams are grouped with a German one.

It's just a shame - from the point of view of seeing different European opposition at Etihad, at least - that it's always the same one!
