Channel deaths | Four confirmed dead after migrant boat tragically capsizes (p 41)

You’ve commented a lot on this thread, without actually suggesting anything beneficial.

What would you do to stop people drowning in the English Channel unnecessarily?
To be fair its a tough one maybe if the European Union could actually secure its borders rather than passing the problem to the English channel it may well help.Is there a reason the EU can't process genuine Asylum seekers wishing to enter its borders and disperse them throughout its 4 and a half billion kilometres rather than let them drown it the channel. I honestly don't see why the blame always seems to end up on us.

I recognise it‘s tough, but the EU don’t pass the problem onto us. EU countries take a vastly bigger number of asylum seekers than the relative few that try to cross the channel.

If we had a sensible approach to vetting asylum seekers, they wouldn’t need to cross the channel.

Baron Kerr knows the score it seems...

60% of people who make it across are granted asylum after being assessed.

Imagine how much better off these people would be if they were allowed in without having to pay €4,000 per person to get trafficked across?

Imagine a family of 4 arriving with €16,000 to get their life sorted instead of putting it in the pockets of smugglers.

Also imagine how the smuggling economy would collapse if 60% of people they put in dinghies was taken away.

We do need a sensible approach to the question of Asylum seekers trouble will be those who aren't genuine(probably the vast majority) will still be climbing on boats. Does the EU have no idea of border control or who's actually within its borders its a whole lot bigger than we are to absorb people.

They probably do, but policing an entire coastline is probably impossible to do.

This is not true. See the video from the house of lords above.
That's why I put probably I was only going off the bloke on breakfast TV ex border force in Calais who reckoned 90% were economic migrants,It doe's seem that young men make up the large % of those fleeing in fear though.
