Ched Evans - serious injury

My thoughts too, although I'd say it's a lot for all parties to go through.

I guess I see why the prosecution would want another trial, but it's not going to come cheap.
Trouble is a retrial is as vital for ched as anyone else as if that doesn't come then he will have cleared nothing and will have gained nothing from the last few years. If he wants public redemption I would say he has little chance of getting it whatever happens but his only chance of any is with a retrial and something earth shattering coming out. You have to assume that whatever it is isn't earth shattering as there has been this demand for a retrial .

I completely agree - it's just a farcical process to go through.

I read up on this case a lot at the start and remain puzzled as to why Clayton was found innocent but Ched guilty... they weren't drinking at the time so despite being able to consent at first... she was then too intoxicated to have possibly consented the second time around... weird. The trouble for Ched is that they definitely were taking advantage of the girl - she was probably letting them, but it still comes across as a couple of cocky footballers which for a jury immediately makes them critical. The girl sent a text late on that was clear and accurate.

I think he'll get found innocent at a re-trial and will be able to play football again, forever tainted by the events.

As someone else said, he was in great form and would possibly have been playing for Wales in the Euro's this summer...
There is no innocent in the legal system as far as I am aware, unless someone else is convicted of the crime when I assume it could be assumed you are.

Even not guilty doesn't mean you aren't guilty (see OJ) it could mean you are but often it just means your barrister put enough doubt into the mind of the jury.

I understand the process mate, and I have my own views on the verdict and ched, however, like you highlighted, the very best lawyer will find copious amounts of loopholes....

So I take it then that all the people who praised our justice system when the original verdict was announced will now claim the system is bent?

Regardless of my views on the verdict I wonder if all this would have gone away at the time or certainly years ago had he just behaved a bit less of an arrogant twat. He has been extremely poorly advised and supported by his "friends" through the whole thing. Let's see what happens

If is he is indeed innocent - and I'm not saying he definitely is - then why would he accept a guilty verdict? Would you accept a guilty verdict and not kick up a fuss if you were wrongly convicted of rape? Of course you wouldn't. You really do talk nonsense at times.

You also seem to imply from much earlier posts that those Twatter users that named the complainant are personal friends of his and it was some kind of coordinated campaign by Evans and his mates to harass her when it was clear they were random knobheads not engaging their brain who don't even know him.

Well Zin, the way I see it is that it's the arrogance of a footballer. Some of them want to live up to the reputation of being serial shaggers. They want to throw money around and behave like billy big bollocks and treat people (particularly women) as commodities.
Some of the evidence put forward and witness statements don't suggest that he forced her into doing anything. I still believe that he treated her like crap though.
