She looks a bit silly now doesn't she. I can't see any team touching ched unless his appeal is successful.

What appeal?

I thought he appealed his conviction while in prison and the appeal court rejected it?

His appeal was rejected in 2012, but he since submitted a bid to overturn the conviction on the basis of new evidence with the CCRC. This may not be heard until 2017.

Ah I see, I havent kept up with any of it. Thanks for the non-facetious
reply. I didnt know what appeal was being discussed.

Not strictly an appeal but his case is being reviewed by a watchdog that deals with possible miscarriages of justice:

A musician Paul Heaton (Housemartins and Beautiful South) who is a patron of Sheffield United has now resigned over Evans training with the club.

Seems to have been a bit of misreporting over the last couple of weeks.

Firstly he hasn't trained with the club. The PFA have asked the club if they will allow him to and they are considering it.

Also no sponsers have said they will cancel their contracts if he plays for them. The two main ones have said they will reevaluate their position if that does happen.

Heaton has just been on channel 4 news and came across quite even handed. He says that Evans deserves a second chance but it wouldn't be appropriate for that to be at the same club he was at when the incident took place, hence he resigned his position. He reckons that greater distance is needed for any fresh start to happen.

Agreed.

This was his statement n his social media
It is with great regret that I announce my resignation as patron of Sheffield United Community Foundation.

I would firstly like to salute the bravery of my fellow Blades and patrons in resigning their positions and in particular Charlie Webster, Jessica Ennis-Hill and Lindsay Graham, in standing up for victims of rape everywhere.

I firmly believe that Ched Evans has the right to rebuild his career in football but rebuilding a career should not involve walking straight out of prison and into the shirt of the club he so badly let down.

I believe he needs to move away and move on, and the club itself needs to lift its reputation out of the gutter.

As a way of showing a lead to others involved in this torrid affair, I will be donating my fee from this month's Sheffield City Hall gig to Sheffield Rape Crisis Centre.

Finally, I would like to thank the Foundation for its continued hard work in the Sheffield community and wish them the very best for the future.

To be frank I find it a tad odd that Heaton who has bragged about being a Sheffield United hooligan was even given a position as a patron. Weird club.

Interesting Heaton resigning has not provoked the same shitty reaction that the ladies doing the same thing did,i bet he doesn't get abuse on here or on twitter

That's a fair observation, but it's perhaps also because Heaton is perceived to have less at stake in terms of corporate sponsorship as in the case of Ennis-Hill, or as less of a rank hypocrite as in the case of Webster.

So because JEH has sponsers and is high profile she should just stay quiet?

I'm simply trotting out the most cynical line available. Ennis-Hill is well within her rights to put her name to, or withdraw it from, anything she chooses. Likewise Webster, though quite frankly she now looks a complete imbecile. For me, Heaton's statement is very well judged: moderate, fair and impartial without sitting on the fence.
