Chelsea (A) | PL | Post-Match Thread

I must say that I was very surpriced that Mahrez of all our players would run to the far post for a tap in... never seen him do that before... happy he was though as it won us the game... but he usually always stay at the top of the box never see him at the far post!
 
I wonder if Pep actually played Cancelo on the right wing because he hadn’t defended well in a few games this season? Almost as if to say, ‘show me how good of a 7 you really are then if you think you are one’. Obviously didn’t work out.

The lad is running himself into the ground and we need to give him a few more early crosses or go over the top of teams and show his pace.

It feels like only de bruyne is allowed to pass to him
It’s like we have to build up, play triangles, get Kev wide right and then killer ball

First half left me bewildered especially how unconvincing our top players were playing. How many times did we lose the ball which is everything to Pep? Phil barely touched it and when he did he had the opposite of the Midas touch! Miles better in the 2nd half but we were playing the worst Chelsea team for years.

He was the best FB last season. He needs run of games to get back to his form. Pep needs to trust players in their position. He didn't trust rodri in CL final and look what happened. Entire team didn't know what the fuck was happening
 
Good game to go to. Definitely one of two halves but, more importantly, three points.

Still work to do to find top form consistently but Pep will be learning about his best team for this season.

Pep being a sarcastic fucker in his pre match interview about picking the team everyone told him to pick doesnt help things when he makes a double change at half time playing players in their actual positions, completely hung Cancelo and Foden out to dry inparticular in the first half when they were so isolated it was untrue (Foden didnt help himself by forgetting how to control a football)

Were so far off it at the minute and De Bruyne is staying on the pitch on reputation alone, last 5 minutes last night when they were obviously coming on strong he was grazing on the half way line not able/arsed to track back and help out. Running Rodri into the ground obviously stopped us being able to take De Bruyne off but he could at least have played deeper in those final minutes. Separate note Rodri should be absolutely nowhere near the stadium on Sunday stay at home with your feet up pal!

If we play our normal 4-3-3 at that shithole next week we'll hammer them but im concerned the bald one is going to come up with another of his daft ideas and we'll get turned over

Sorry but as good as it was to score I cannot get giddy about a ball that the keeper must be embarrassed about not easily cutting out.
 
A major reason for frustrations is that many fans have very high expectations about the team, given we have Haaland (and Alvarez) now. They think we should put teams to the sword without much problems. But it would help to realise how difficult it is to win 5 from 6 titles when the league is at its competitive best now. Even teams fighting relegation have a lot of internationals, sometimes even starters for Brazil like Raphinha at Leeds last season.

It cost us a lot of effort to win the title last season and to try to reach the CL final. Other teams have fallen off a cliff after the efforts from last season. Also, key players like KDB and Walker aren't getting younger... Add the WC, and people should temper a bit their expectations, if they don't want to come across as self-entitled. This team and manager deserve better.
