Chelsea (A) | PL | Post-Match Thread

As many have said its all about the wins and not how you get them , always has been and always will be.

Yes to have it all signed sealed and delivered at half time would be a bonus but if we rinse and repeat at Old Trafford I for one won't be complaining in the slightest.

A number of our players are struggling at present but when you consider how Liverpool and Chelsea are faring after the Euro's and the World Cup given how many players we had off in Qatar we are not doing so badly.

Hardly surprising Arsenal and Newcastle and Manure and Spurs are all in the top 5 at present only surprised they ae all not closer and in Arsenal's case further ahead of us in points so augers well for the remainder of the season.

I hope we never play that starting line up again! One shot on target in the first half.
Nice to see Pep using the subs early on though to change things. Walker deserved to be subbed for that throw in alone.

I gotta say it strikes me as weird that for the first time ever Pep made changes early in a match and it was to replace Walker and Cancelo. It's also odd that he pulled Foden so early too. These guys haven't had much game time together so expecting them to be able to just play lights out right out of the gate doesn't seem fair. I still feel like all three of those guys give City their best chance to win and play dominant football but they have to be in the right formation. Put Cancelo on the left with Foden and let them make overlapping runs while Walker/Alvarez/Mahrez do the same thing on the right. It opens up so much space for KDB/Bernardo/Ilkay to step in and be able to make crosses to the big guy. Right now they're not clicking and IMO it's because they're pushing too hard through the middle of the pitch. Just create that space on the wings and let Foden and Alvarez get in behind the defense and watch the goals start flowing again.

Just got in. Game of two halves - one ponderous and the other more forward thinking.

It needed a shake up and the subs made reflected that. Rico Lewis brings energy to the team and those around him. Mahrez was superb on the ball.

A win and clean sheet so that’s the main thing.

The next run of games the only important thing is winning and no injuries, any sort of performance's will be a bonus.

Last night, great win 3 points, now onto the next.

Our defense needs to be fortified and the attack sparkling with Rodri playing the Pinot

Mediocre 1st half.

Outstanding 2nd half.

Fair play to Pep for accepting his 1st half experiments didn’t work, getting the right players on early and changing the shape / style. Excellent game management.

Stones and Ake absolutely outstanding throughout. Lewis impressive again once brought on.

Well done the much maligned Grealish and Mahrez who changed the game and brought the 3 points home.

3 points is no mean feat at Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal will be shitting their knickers.

The derby is now fucking huge.

Bad first half. Ok second half. Our performances are just not good enough. Worst of all we are boring, sloppy in the passing, slow and no bite in the tackle. Stones and Rico shone, but only because Walker, Cancelo, KDB and Foden stunk the place out. Hope something clicks soon. A tough tough month ahead.
