Chelsea (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

I was pissed off with Dias and Gvardiol at the time but having had time to reflect, I think their errors were understandable.

Win aren’t used to having to defend as most teams don’t attack us. It’s probably a good thing it happened, so we can sharpen up for the next 3 games.

Was an opportunity lost though, if we’d scraped a 4-3 it would have been a kick in the teeth for our rivals. Ho hum!

We can't continue to defend like that and expect to retain trophys..

Yes the game might look like a thriller with 8 goals but that's the sort of defending you see in the championship.

We cant rely on our forwards to score 3 or 4 every game.

Dias needs to screw his head back on. He should know better than to go sliding in on his arse in the last minute inside the box. The chances of giving away a penalty is huge.

Set of tough fixtures coming up. If we can get through the next 3 games and still be top I'll be thrilled.

Agreed, I have no problem with Doku over Jack starting. We looked very dangerous with him on the ball. Pep thought he would be a better option up against the excellent Reece James. It just didn’t come off for him today. Jack did okay when he came on tbf though. It’s a dilemma for Pep both have unique qualities.
Grealish did not do ok when he came on tbf and frequently lost possession . Doku should have stayed on as Rees James was never going to last 90 mins .

I think we should have flipped Doku to RW to get under Cucu's skin when he got a yellow. IDK
I really thought an instruction from Pep to Foden would have been "go right at him" every time Phil got close to the 18 yard box. But yeah, I thought the shift would have been good too.

Very poor performances all around. In defence Gvardiol was very poor along with Dias and walker, he (Gvardiol) is an exceptional footballer but seems to be very anxious in his early career here which is understandable due to his age and magnitude of playing for such a team. I would continue playing him though till nerves inevitably go away. Elsewhere alvarez had a bad game bar the haaland goal. Doku was ineffective, credit to james who was fantastic.

Brilliant game both teams going full throttle. Attacking football at its best.
Defensively not so good. I get the feeling if we click as we have before this game we may hammer Livarpool about 6 nil.
Palmer proving cool again and pleased hd didn't celebrate against us...hope our sell on clause is 50% and we get another 30 mill when he gets to 30 goals.
Phil's inswinging shot was brilliant and another inch to the right would have won us the game.
Class Akanji header.
A point away at Chelsea cannot be seen as bad really. They will beat plenty of the top 6 or 7.
Top of the league at this stage is unusual as we normally go on a 20 game unbeaten run to catch up & overtake around this time till Feb/March so I'll take it.
With De Bruyne back and rested in the new year I am extremely hopeful for an historic 4th in 4. Up the blues, keep the faith.

Shouldn't be dropping points to this Chelsea side. They are average mid table side. Lesser teams have played well against them

Gvardiol and doku are going to be top drawer for us no doubt. But i was surprised they both started yesterday. Not so much gvardiol , but certainly doku, arent ‘there’ yet for BIG games and it should have been grealish and ake

But in gvardiols case he was no worse than walker and dias.

Hopefully doku and gvardiol learned from today
