Chelsea (A) Post Match Thread

Chelsea are a good team and we were missing Mendy, KDB and Sergio. I said at the start of the season than if City don’t win the league I’d have no problem with United or Chelsea winning it but if Liverpool do it will be unbearable. It doesn’t bare thinking about, they’ll want a public holiday(not that they need an excuse not to go to work)!
The player who would have made a significant difference is KDB.

There's no fundamental problem, in fact City have probably never been healthier - if we can just shrug off the FFP issues

An odd result today.

I felt we were in complete control for the vast majority of the game. Without ever really threatening. We had a number of threatening situations but ever over played or were reluctant to shoot.

Three main points.

1. David Silva was well below par. Has he been playing hurt.
2. Delph is being targeted. We need a left full
3. Mahrez isn't doing it. Why was he left on and Sane taken off?

Didn’t take our chances first half.

Sucker punched just before half time.

Chelsea better side 2nd half and deserved the points.

Let’s see how the players react to being 2nd.

Not clinical enough today when we got into their final third a number of players below par and maybe Silva has been playing with a muscle strain which flared up yesterday.

Although Foden said Silva thought it was some tightness lets see what the scans reveal we can't afford to have him out for too long.

Players like Delph and Ilkay need to step up when given significant game time.

We were due a loss at some stage lets hope its at least another 16 games till the next one.

Disappointed with the result but there's far worse teams to lose to, they worked really hard for their points.

Hats off to Chelsea, they hung in there for the first half and a got lucky break with the Kante goal when City were much the better team, I don't care how many shots we had because we were applying pressure against a very good team in their own ground and dominating them pretty much. I also don't know what BT were seeing but there wasn't much between the two teams in the 2nd half(most of their attacks were in fact counters and we reduced them to shooting tame efforts from outside the box and a few generous free kicks) but I guess people over compensate when we aren't totally outplaying them, teams naturally feel a little braver when they are ahead and Chelsea were no exception. The second goal killed the game, I don't think it was a corner but we should have defended it better, how did Gundogan end up trying to deal with Luiz?

Today could have been much different if we were at full strength, Mendy would have given us a lot going forward, Aguero would have been handy, oh and that fella KDB might have given them more to think about. Finally, although they didn't play badly, Silva and Fernandinho look like they need a rest, they'd probably have been able to affect the game more otherwise, hope Silva is ok.

All in all we shouldn't get too down about this, they had to get a lucky win against an understrength Man City team at the end of the day. I am more concerned that the players already look tired and the busy period has only just started.

I don’t think they were particularly lucky.

They defended well and were the better side in the 2nd half.

You have to take your chances in these game and we didn’t.

Sorry, but it was ridiculous to leave a striker out.
Jesus, Sané & Sterling’s record is outstanding.
It was predictable from the start. We’d dripped nearly all our points playing with inverted wingers. To change our strengths was a white decision.

The substitutions were even worse. Total was a total Pep fuck up, he needs to take the blame.

9 times out of 10 CFC would lose playing that way but they scored with their first attack after 45 mins and that made it very difficult. Sometimes easier to play counter-attacking game but basically it's an admission of inferiority
