Chelsea (A) Post Match Thread

On reflection, we played well first 40 odd minutes and they scored against the run of play. We had some great situations and a combination of good defending and weak finishing stopped us from assuming control. Some players either tired or just not on their game today. Second half they looked the better team and once they fluked the second it was game over. We've lost the art of keeping clean sheets and I thought Delph especially was exposed by their movement. Bernardo has been near invisible against Watford and again yesterday. David Silva either carrying an injury or just not effecting the game enough. Tough loss to take but we need to keep fighting and the sooner Aguero and KDB are back the better.

With our best player out we’ve exceeded expectations.

Pep got it wrong though. Mistake to bench Jesus. I was shocked he didn’t start. Sterling is not good at false 9. When him and Mahrez switched, Riyad was a ghost in the false 9. Sterling should of started at RW especially after resting the whole week. Alonso is weak defensively and Raz would of continued to cause him problems there. Raz turned him wonderfully and created a beautiful chance for Leroy. Mahrez didn’t trouble him. Had we started with Sane-Jesus-Sterling, I’m confident we would of at least scored in the first half.

The subs were completely wrong. Sane off? Should of been Mahrez off. Gundogan entering a game that we’re losing just confirms the loss basically. At least we saw some of Foden.

Fernandinho and Stones were the standouts. Stones particularly, made many important interceptions and even a few big tackles in Chelsea’s half. Everyone else ranged from average to bad. The two Silva’s were ineffective, Walker had some brain farts, Delph had one of his worst performances for us, looked like he forgot how to play football.

At least we won’t hear invincible talk anymore. This loss was coming for a while. We’ve gotten results recently while not playing well. It should bring us back to reality.

Pep will be getting the sack on Monday for losing our first league game this season. You seem to have it about you, get your CV in quickly

I thought we were allowed to say what we want here or is it only what you want to read? If you don’t like what I write, don’t read it.
Prick.
I suspect people get fed up with constant negativity. The majority offer balance in their comments so it frustrates when the usual suspects don't.
And cut out the abuse :-)

First half good but a little wasteful. Caught with sucker punch - one shot, one goal.
Second half poor, one of those thankfully all too rare games when you notice that almost all our players suddenly look like they shouldn’t be so fantastic in this league - too small, slow, ineffective.
So much so that your mind wanders towards the non-existent Plan B Edin option...
In the end just one of those days; too many out injured or knackered or off form - a bridge too far
