I rate Rodri,but he was terrible in the first half,gave the ball away 7 or 8 times,nearly costing a couple of goals.

Listening to Frank after the game showed his class and humility. He was obviously disappointed but still managed to express his admiration for how we played. Never threw his players under the bus and realized there's a lot of growth for his Chelsea team.

Work rate was immense in that first half. Second half we eased up a little, letting the ball do the work. Makes sense since we have the Scum in a few days.
There was a period in that second half that would've been appropriate for the Benny Hill tune.

No disguising the bit where commentary was 'praising' Cancelo by selling the fact that he looked worth every one of the 73million dollars we paid for him.

I mean, fuckinghell - next they'll be telling us the non-net price in yen or vietnamese dong - and making out like he cost as much as pogbad.

Yet Chelsea have just spent a quarter of a billion last summer and they were all outclassed today - why did he miss an opportunity to mention that...?

Rodri had a much better 2nd half. He gave the ball away too much first half in bad positions but I think he's playing there and receiving the ball because when he gets it right we tend to do well. High risk position.

Loving the Dias and Stones partnership. Without cursing it I want to see how they respond to a clanger or a 10 minute spell where they are under a lot of pressure. We've sometimes lacked composure there when the pressure is on but so far they look the real deal.

Cancelo is looking superb recently. Really turning things around after looking a bit disinterested

It seems to take players the best part of a full season to get to grips fully with Pep's system and way of playing.

Since the restart, Len has been superb, and had a few MotM awards, at least on Bluemoon, whereas before lockdown, he struggled at times and looked, dare I say it, a waste of money.

You know, I don’t think we will ever have a better manager than the current incumbent and even with several years under his wing no one will be able to produce winning football like Pep.

The fact that it takes players the best part of one season to adapt to it says it all - the guy is on a different intellectual level to any other ex-player. I intend to enjoy it whilst it lasts and remember with affection afterwards. I spent my whole youth following difficult years in the 80’s, 90’s and most of the 00’s so to do otherwise would be very remiss of me.

I'm feeling pretty good about things at the moment, particularly after watching that.

1. Dias looks to be an awesome signing 'out of the box'
2. Stones now consistently looks like the player we thought we'd originally signed - it's like a new signing !
3. Together they're looking pretty damn good
4. Laporte and Ake are more than capable, so for the first time in a while we have vey solid options across CB position
5. Gundo this season looks like the player we bought from Dortmund
6. Cancelo is now proving to be a footballer

Yes, we still waste chances up front but we're so much tighter at the back and no longer seen as the 'soft touch' defensively like last season. It's early days but if Bernie can maintain that level of performance, and Phil is given ample opportunity to play I can see us starting to move into top gear. Win the game in hand we're one point off top and starting to come into form. Onwards and upwards !
