Chelsea - FA Cup SF | Post-Match Thread

Sure, I agree - but who else should he pick if first choices aren't fully recovered?
I honestly thought that team yesterday would have done so much better regardless of how many changes were made. It was the sheer lack of effort and disinterest all round that concerned me the most. Even Kev looked like it was a game he'd rather not have bothered started in. So so shit

8 changes were made yesterday, if playing once a week is mentally and physically draining players they are in the wrong sport. I was hoping Sterling would do something, I have defended him on here after every bad game but right now as it stands he's crap.

Jesus runs about a lot but without a top class finisher he can play off,his hard work comes to nothing. I can see how he could be more effective with someone up front who can actually kick a ball.

Mendy is just not good enough.
I always think of tennis players and cyclists when I hear this. Two games at 90 mins running approximately 10k.

Compared with a tennis player who could play 4 hours per day and a tour cyclist who could ride 7 hours a day for 200 miles in gruelling heat up mountains.

Footballers are over pampered and if we keep telling they can’t play 180 minutes a week they will believe it.

this is what i said to my lad last night
what is the point of going balls deep for everything if your team puts in a performance like that last night? you might as well just not bother ,like our team just couldn't be bothered last night
to think thousands of us would have normally traipsed down to london and spent hundreds yeaterday to be rewarded by a shocking unarsed performance like that

Oh we would have been well pissed off mate, long journey back north that would have been.

I think Pep realises now it was a case of too many changes, well his tetchy interview suggests he got it wrong, although he would never admit it.

Tiredness is not just physical, it's the mental aspect.

The traveling alone is exhausting.

Added to the fact the players have little or no match preparation, leads to games like yesterday.

This was just one game too many in a very congested schedule. Utter shite that Soton/LCFC are playing on Sunday after a mid-week off. Chelsea getting an extra day didn’t help either.
The entire team looked lethargic today and they were letdown by the rested players not making any runs to open up space. Furthermore, inaccurate passing through the midfield stalled any build-up. I suppose it was bound to happen.

The draw screwed us up big time.
Chelsea had an extra day's rest and an easier game ( which they could afford to lose and did).
In the circumstances Pep's eight changes were inevitable and his options were Iimited although I still think he made some errors in team selection but that's another discussion.

It’s basically down to Pep. He selects the team. Sadly the 8 team change players let Pep, the Club and the fans down Massively. It was like watching the Leeds game last week. Our front three of Sterling, Jesus and Torres were absolutely useless. Pep really should have found out that these 3 are not the answer. Pep must never play those 3 together. He must also be gutted like all the fans.

his changes couldn't beat a 10 man leeds team last week
why rest ederson,he does nothing must games except stand up
their goal was a gift thanks to our "yank rookie " goallie

Not only did Chelsea have an extra day's rest and an easier game ( which they could afford to lose and did), they were at home whereas we were travelling back from Germany which makes the difference in recuperation virtually two days.

What team would you have picked? It's easy in hindsight but I'd have at least picked Ederson for starters.
