Chelsea (H) | Post-Match Thread

Yes it's a hard choice but he has to play his first teamers or it will disrupt our rhythm. We can't just turn up on the day and click

I'm not so sure. Tuchel has got them well organised, is tactically astute and they have clinical match winners in the team. No surprise as they've invested heavily but of course that's rarely mentioned.
Yes, but that aside we are the better side only utd have got the better of us so far this calendar year without us pretty much making wholesale changes. That is not true for his Chelsea side... they have been beaten on a number of occasions. Basically if we set up with our best 11 and play to our potential I think we will do the job.

I don't think they've lost many since he arrived. Pep is going to have to pull off a tactical plan to stop their pace. The wingers have to occupy their wing backs particularly on the left where both goals came from today as they targeted Mendy. Zinchenkos isn't fast either so he'll need help. Mahrez gave Chillwell a torrid time when he played for Leicester so hopefully he'll do the same this game. We did a job on PSG so let's hope we do the same on Chelsea.

Today if the rags draw or lose we'll all feel better as that's the league as good as won. Two trophies won and a big one to look forward to. At the start of the season we'd never have believed it possible after our poor start.

In all competitions they have lost a fair few.. and haven’t made 8/9 changes once let alone 3 times. Basically we have lost one to their 4 maybe 5 when we have taken the game seriously (and not totally gutted the team) we have also played a far higher calibre of team.. cup finals, semis etc. Basically despite their improvement under him our best 11’s performance has shat on theirs in 2021 thus far..

A hundred and eighty pages! FFS!.

No fucking way I'm reading all the wrist slitting.

Would someone, please kindly summarise it?
Very difficult to summarise that but let's face it, we weren't going to beat Chelsea with that team.

I don't understand Pep playing that team, but he does strange things now and then, it would have been a fabulous week had he played the first team and beat them three nill.
For some reason he is saving the players even though the final is way off, it would have been a massive psychological boost to beat them today and they were there for the taking.
The trouble is they were the better team especially in the second half.

Aguero had the chance to put us two up but for some inexplicable reason he decided just to dink it very very tamely, it made me very sad to see him do that and for the goalkeeper to deal with it so easily, almost embarrassing from Kun.
.
The penalty decision was laughable I don't see the point of VAR if they can't see that that was a penalty no question about it.
Like Pep and Kun, another inexplicable decision.

I, and I suspect the majority of city fans are left completely bewildered and disappointed after a fantastic week when we made the champions League final... I feel completely deflated, not just cos we lost but that could be the last we see of the great Sergio Aguero.

just checked..

Draw with southampton
Draw with utd
Draw with Leeds
Loss to West Brom
Loss to Porto
Draw with Brighton
Draw with Real Madrid

And if I’m frank... you could factor at least one loss against us if we didn’t play largely our second string. They also leave it tight.. hardly won a game by more than a one goal margin.

They are chasing top 4.. we have had the league rapped up for a month. When playing our best side we have lost one game against (rather annoyingly) the rags.

Their form simply isn’t close to ours. It really isn’t.

Fuck me that was a shit penalty.

but at the end of the day we’re 13 points clear so whatever!

And as for the final, we’ve all seen how city can play when the chips are down, I’m hoping for more of thet

Fine margins. A penalty miss and another definite one denied and the result would of been more positive. Mixed in with mistake from Rodri on the first goal. A bright spot is it stops Liverpool from sneaking back in, although Leicester are doing their best in keeping the backdoor open for them.

We don't know that. I guess you can understand the fans being upset as they are our CL opponents, we just expected a bit more seriousness maybe.

Of course this won't be the way we play, of course it is not our strongest XI, and of course we will make changes and be a lot more aggressive. But all that said, let's not undermine them. They have made the CL finals after all, no matter how easy the route was. In a one-off game anything is possible. No first timers in a CL final have ever won it. Lots of other factors. We shouldn't be overanalysing the final right now, but the point is, we should also not be taking them lightly.
Didn’t the rags win it first time in the final ?
