The idea Pep would go into this match without heavy rotation seems rather strange and if he did so seems really just... careless.
How important in reality was this game?
Don't get me wrong. I was frustrated, and it could have been "a statement" but are we playing the short or long game?
Was the winning this game for "show" to "send a message" more important than?...
1. Ensuring the we minimise the chance of injury to players who we have been most reliant upon in the big games when..
2. We can afford to lose/draw this match to easily win the title
3. We will need these same players to secure the title, and for the CL final
4. Playing our "best side" gives Chelsea practise against the side they'll face in the CL final (they have not played this team in both victories)
Again, are we certain our emotions and "typical City" fears have not gotten the best of us here?
