Chelsea (H) | Post-Match Thread

Right, sorry. We had 9 injured or too pooped 4 days after PSG. It's just Gundog, Foden & Zinchenko had a Lazarus style recovery which threw me. :-|
Right, sorry. Kev & Foden play because Dribble knows better than Pep, get long term injuries and everyone loses their collective shit because they can't play in the Chumps League final.
I can play the contrary twat too mate.

The fall out on BM from this match was pretty huge wasn't it.

I think there's a lot of frustration because people saw it as a way to wrap up the league and get one over chelsea and have a few weeks rest before the final, and i get that, but just in the way that Chelsea's win over us means squat for the final, the reverse is also true. And also the league is 'when' not 'if'.

Just keep stock that we've won a cup, about to win the league and have a chance at European glory, this constitutes and rather wonderful season. Some of the pops at Aguero early on in the thread are....incredible and some at Pep not much better. Imagine looking at United fans 20 years ago who are teetering on the edge of 3 cups and listening to them talk like this.......

anyway game was hard to judge, lots of changes stymied it a bit. I was also disappointed to lose like i am every defeat but what do you do, dust off and try again. First half we could have won the game, 2nd half chelsea really fought. Everyone i know thinks the non-pen was a pen, madness non-decision.

Having studied, in depth, all the arguments on here, what we need, and what we nearly have, is the holy grail of two A teams which play together all the time in alternate matches. If a player gets injured, then one is drafted in, in the relevant position, from the other team.

So simple, only a fool would think of it.

I don’t mean there would literally be an “A” and “B” team. But if we played pressing teams like Leeds then Dortmund in a short space of time. We would be able to deal with it by rotating heavily.
The rest of the time we are ticking over. Rotating little but often.
We know we can beat the lower placed teams. It’s teams with energy that cause the problems when the fixture list is congested.

Torres and Ake have a lot to learn. The amount of information they have to process to be able to step into the team must be huge.
They need the game time though. To learn. We then have players that are just as good on any team sheet.

I think without the striker we can move positions freely. Against a tight defence this changes the angle of ur attacks. They have to concentrate for the full ninety plus added. That’s tough no matter how much you love defending.
Mahrez looks brilliant as a striker. Foden, Torres and Jesus make three more that can play there.

It sounds daft but I think we would lose 20 or 30 goals if we go with a striker.
We've got strikers, just not a supreme striker in his prime as we did with Aguero. I suppose this summer will tell us a lot about the direction of the team over the next couple of seasons.

In terms of the heavy rotation, I think the point everyone's making is if we'd have rotated less & treated Saturday as the title decider it was, rotation, tactics, & playing personnel wouldn't have mattered as we'd have achieved 2 out of 4 season objectives, with one remaining & three weeks plus to prepare.

This would have been my preference.

They were being rested, they weren't on life support.
Rested for what? One last push on Saturday, & they could have had their summer holidays early, come back, trained for a week & been ready for the final. As it stands, we've still got meaningful PL football to play, instead of the opportunity for a proper rest for the squad.

If that scenario happens which is pretty likely, then we have to go full tilt v Newcastle. Get the job done then go from there!
Right! And the point everyone was making is that we could have gone a little short of full tilt last Saturday, gotten the result we needed, & be sat back smoking Havana's & watching the rest scrap it out.

As it stands, we've STILL got meaningful PL matches to play....

Too many Blues on here reading way too much into the two defeats by Chelsea, the bottom line is we have played them once with a full strength team on the pitch and we handed them their arseholes on a City plate.

Sergio’s horror show pen will be forgotten before we play again, as the rags will drop points and hand us the title...Again ..

No reason for panic or slagging our players or manager off, man up for fucks sake, this will turn out to be the most successful season in our history ....

Up the Villa....!!!
Fuck the Villa - Up the Foxes -Latest update..!
