Its not a chance.

Smashing it down the middle would be taking a chance.

Trying to panenka someone is showing off, trying to make the goalkeeper look stupid by making it so tantalisingly close they scramble to get off the floor and save it.

Its the penalty equivalent of getting on your hands and knees to head the ball over the line instead of tapping it in.
Sergio is as much f**cked off about it as we are probably more he’s just f**cked up

Worse was the way he had a go at Sterling for ‘stealing’ his goal
Was just thinking to myself that is actually the more disappointing moment. It’s a team game and to see that selfishness is not a good look even if it is sergio

I don’t think he was having a go, he was explaining how the ball came to be there for Sterling!

Sergio was NEVER going to score that goal, and he knew it! Sterling bailed him out after a bad first touch. He is lucky Sterling knocked it in with his weaker foot!

Dismal performance from the usual suspects....Mendy, Cancelo, Gab Jesus....they were shafting us down our left hand side constantly in the 2nd half but for some reason it took Pep 30 minutes to get Mendy off. Raz might have scored but the rest of his performance was distinctly meh.
I don't understand the logic of that team choice today....play your strongest 11 and deal them a psychological blow before the final plus make them nervous about even finishing in the top 4...oh...and win the title too.....but no, we have to gift them a win with a quite appalling 2nd half showing from the usual suspects and now they can chill our before the final as they are just about guaranteed a top 4 place again....utter fucking madness.
Bloody raging after that.
Don't get me started on that ludicrous penalty miss.
So, we lost.
It doesn't matter in the grand scheme.
Chelski are within striking distance of the rags (who will be looking nervously over their shoulders) and it looks like the dippers wont get C/L.
Todays team could have won and until Sergios silliness were comfortable in the match.
The C/L final will be different gravy.

I don't blame Pep, he made the right decision to rotate, he wants to create competition by rotating players and keep main players on their toes, this also gives a chance for reserve players to earn a spot in the main team, that said none of them did enough today but on another day who knows?

Crap performance especially second half, too many changes. Mendy had a shocker, no surprise, hopefully it will be his last season with City.

What the hell were you doing Serge with that penalty. Chelsea are a decent side, but we will still go into the CL as favourites and I still fancy our chances with a full side out.

Today on here has proved that we have developed some of the most spoilt, childish, glory hunting ‘fans’ going. We made 9 changes against a near full strength Chelsea team in a game that meant next to nothing seeing as the title is all but won. And if we’d have got the pen we should have at the end or Sergio didn’t have a brain fart we’d have won. We’ve already won a cup, have 99% won the league and are in the champions league final and knob heads on here are calling players cunts and saying the team is a disgrace. No dick heads - you’re the embarrassing ones. Yeh I was pissed off we lost but no more than we’d lost a friendly.
There not city fans their fare weather fans wankers the lot of them, spoilt fuckers the sort who have one beer and want to fight the pub knobs pal

I have always found it ironic that Pep rarely makes any changes in game.

But when he rotates he just goes right of the common sense scale making 8,9, changes.

Even changing how we play,to make us even more shit.

We literally had no midfield today.

Wtf was that all about ?

I hear Pep studies all the Stats on every game.

How the fuck has he not seen the obvious common denominator with every defeat ie :excessive rotation of first team players for inferior squad replacements.

You could literally bet your mortgage on us losing every time he does this.

We dont even play again until next Friday.

Now the players he rested today, will all need to be played at Newcastle.
Assuming we haven't already won it by then.

Think plenty need to take a breath.
It was frustrating.
It was the second time in a few weeks losing in the last minute.
But we will still win the league. We still won the league cup. We’re still in CL final.

Can we all think of the bigger picture
the frustatrating thing however is that it was all so predictable...even before the line ups were announced and especially after.

All it has done is added a lt of needless pressure on the one of the biggest games in the clubs history......that is bad management Im afraid as a good manager give s his workers help, time and space to perform at their best at critical moments. Pep has done exactly the opposite with that team selection......get the game won, rest players in all the remaining league games, no injuries to key players and arrive at champs league final in perfect condition (with Key players being given minutes in the remaining games just to keep their rhythm)

What if mahrez kdb and foden got injured today?

ok they better not move until the champs league final.wrap them up in cotton wool.

it could have been wrapped up today if they played and then they could have done nothing. If the rags win then they will need to play.

get it won and give them rest Or time to recover if they get injured.

Penalty robbery aside(which would have won the game if we had converted it), we probably didn't deserve the win tonight, but neither did Chelsea IMO.

From City's perspective, that formation doesn't suit us, the pressing was off from the start. It wasn't working up front with the players chosen either, they didn't seem to be combining much, to pull Chelsea's backline apart and create overloads/chances. The defence was disjointed, even with 3 CB's on, we didn't look as solid as we normally do. With Zinchenko and Walker on it would have been a different story. We at least played our high line well enough and caught them offside time and time again(clearly part of the game plan) but we cut it too close at times for my liking.

Chelsea looked fitter/fresher than City, especially in that second half, despite City having an extra day's rest. They(Chelsea) deserve praise for pressing for the full 90mins but when Neville and Tyler are getting excited by City's own game becoming sloppy, Chelsea's players must have noticed it even more and took a lot of encouragement from that. I think Pep should have made his changes sooner because the game turned in that sloppy period for me. The only problem if he had done that would be that when you make 9 changes in the starting line-up and it's not working, even 3 subs might not be enough.

Ake and Mendy both fading at the same time was not pleasant viewing. Sergio and Torres didn't offer much. I can't remember Cancelo doing much in either direction, come to think of it. Laporte played well overall but he got done far too easily by Werner for their goal, he does have those slight lapses in concentration, every so often. He switched off for a moment thinking Werner was going to double back and then Werner(what a diver he is btw) was in behind him to supply the cross.

Disappointed with the performance, miffed at the officiating but we'll dust ourselves off and learn from this one hopefully.

Saving graces:
He doesn’t have to play people to keep them happy now, evidence is clear that some aren’t up to scratch

Fernandinho starts the final

Cancelo is benched for the final with the better full backs picked

Chelsea out ball to Werner on the left is negated by walker

The team for the final plays every game now if they’re fit. Rhythm
You won't fit in here talking sense.

It was a chance to wrap up the league and give Tuchel something to worry about.Today was awful.I think we have the right as fans to moan about the performance today. It was an awful watch. The result flattered us because they should've been out of sight. They're a dangerous team going forward and today we just couldn't handle them.

Pep's choice to give nothing away to Tuchel; this was an intelligence-gathering game that meant more to Chelsea than it did to us. We could afford to give it away, Chelsea still need points to secure a CL place.

Unhappy we didn't win, don't have any complaints with Pep. Could have been very different if Sergio hadn't seen his arse with Raheem and dicked his pen.
