Chelsea (H) | Post-Match Thread

Hey ho, we move on.

My thoughts....

Saw the team sheet, realised immediately Pep saw it as a free hit, no interest in wheeling out the first choice players, let them rest, give Tuchel fuck all chance to match up against our usual formation and team. We know that by Friday, our main guys will have had 10 days to recuperate so we can wheel out a first choice line up to get the league won, if required. Chances are the scum aren’t going to win all 5 anyway.

On to the game, Chelsea clearly targeted Mendy as he’s donkey spunk, and who can blame them. He’s utter wank and a disgrace to the shirt. Please please get rid of the useless sack of shit in the summer.

Rest of side, all distinctly average, which isn’t surprising given the formation. Really disappointed in Cancelo as again he’s showing his slapped arse.

Sergio Sergio, what were you thinking. Shocker, say no more.

From City's perspective, that formation doesn't suit us, the pressing was off from the start. It wasn't working up front with the players chosen either, they didn't seem to be combining much, to pull Chelsea's backline apart and create overloads/chances. The defence was disjointed, even with 3 CB's on, we didn't look as solid as we normally do. With Zinchenko and Walker on it would have been a different story. We at least played our high line well enough and caught them offside time and time again(clearly part of the game plan) but we cut it too close at times for my liking.

Chelsea looked fitter/fresher than City, especially in that second half, despite City having an extra day's rest. They(Chelsea) deserve praise for pressing for the full 90mins but when Neville and Tyler are getting excited by City's own game becoming sloppy, Chelsea's players must have noticed it even more and took a lot of encouragement from that. I think Pep should have made his changes sooner because the game turned in that sloppy period for me. The only problem if he had done that would be that when you make 9 changes in the starting line-up and it's not working, even 3 subs might not be enough.

Ake and Mendy both fading at the same time was not pleasant viewing. Sergio and Torres didn't offer much. I can't remember Cancelo doing much in either direction, come to think of it. Laporte played well overall but he got done far too easily by Werner for their goal, he does have those slight lapses in concentration, every so often. He switched off for a moment thinking Werner was going to double back and then Werner(what a diver he is btw) was in behind him to supply the cross.

Disappointed with the performance, miffed at the officiating but we'll dust ourselves off and learn from this one hopefully.

Embarrassing seeing them both run in to opposition players and go down like they have just been hit by a Brick Wall.

Both of them give the impression they dont like the physicality of the Premier League.

Cancelo can not even be arsed challenging for the Ball or tracking back.Just prances around like a Show Pony.

This I agree with. It will be moments of brilliance and talent from us, like the final five minutes against QPR. That wasnt Mancini, that was individual players standing up and making it count.

in a game where we can win the league if we win at home I would play our strongest side. Get the league won.

we have no game until Friday. If we win the players wouldn’t have a game then as you could play the fringe players Friday.

chelsea have

a confidence boost
and a foot in the champs league for next season so they can now start to rest players for the final .

Mendy's performance wasn't any worse than anyone else's. He's obviously lost a yard of pace because of all his injuries, so we were bound to be exposed if they put the ball in behind him.

Chelsea realised this was the case, & it was exacerbated by the weird formation we put out, so the put everything into exploiting it. Trust me, today's defeat was ALL on Pep! :-(

Bollocks. You win by being the best over a season, finishing with the most points. When you win it doesn't matter. It might be more exciting to win it when you play on the day but it's nothing to do with what anybody else does or when, as long as you're the best over the season. You do know how it works, don't you?

What happens if we play our best team until the end of the season, still need the last one to get over the line and we're fuicked for the CL final?

So far we have the League Cup for the 4th time running, we've all but won the League, semis of the FA Cup and Final of the CL - so who exactly are we second class to?

God know how some of you lot would have coped when we went down to the 3rd division.
 
Different shape, system and even ball retention used (quicker) - especially in the final.

Walker, Zinch, stones, Ferna, Kdb, Gundo, Marhez, Foden surely will all start. I like/love the lads that started today, but today isnt a barometer of the final
