Chelsea-Liverpool, United-Leeds, Brighton-Palace all off, rest of the games on (pg 128)

I'm just so sick of all of this bullshit.

The whole thing is sinister. The idea that their bloodline is somehow more dignified, more pure and all round superior to the rest of us. The idea that they are 'born to reign over us'. It makes me sick. It is in complete opposition to the basic principles of the modern world - that we're all born equal. That we're judged by our actions, not by the privileges gained through the accident of birth.

And now, after a 96 year old woman, who has lived off the fat of the land her whole life, has died - we're supposed to thank her?

Thanks for what, exactly?

She wasn't my queen, and he's not my king. I don't give a fuck, and I'm not sorry for saying it.

A society with so many in need is being gaslighted into prioritising the death of one old woman, because they think they're better than us. It really is that simple.
Well said mate.

That's an opinion, and it's quite valid to think that, except you do live in a country with a Monarchy and all that goes with that and will for the forseeable future, until a government is elected that decides to hold a referendum and the public vote against it, which wouldn't bother me either way. Neither are likely as far as I can see any time soon though.

Mourning is a very personal thing. I still remember going into town to register my Dad's death, then going to the Abercrombie and ordering a double whisky (not my normal thing!) and sitting there, feeling like shit as I remembered the times we had had together, not least going to Maine Road.

Other people might (for example) have gone into a church and lit a candle. Or gone home and wept in private, Whatever.

The snag with national mourning is that we are no longer one people - if we ever were. Reactions to the Queen's death vary hugely, and no one will tell me different. Some are genuinely broken-hearted. Some don't give a damn. And there's every shade in between. Herding cats ain't in it. You cannot force people to have feelings they don't have.

She gave us 70 years.

The least the public can do is give up a weekend of football.

I don't think many can quite comprehend what a huge moment in time this is, irrespective of your own viewpoint.

It's bigger than any sport, stuff our great grandchildren will be reading about in school 100 years from now.

Certainly not did City fuck up again at home to Spurs this weekend.
Exactly , it’s about respect and showing the outside world that actually there are some things that take precedent over football in this country

people decrying other sports playing on don’t have anything like the reach that the premier league has

its a fitting tribute to the 70 years service she has given us

I am not telling anyone how to grieve.

It's about respect to those that are grieving. Not telling them their feelings aren't valid.

You may think that's a bullshit idea but it's basic human kindness.
No one is telling them how to grieve. They didn’t have to go to the football if they didn’t want to.
