If only Pellegrini had the benefit of hindsight.
Would he have been vindicated had he started a full stregnth side beat Chelsea but lost Aguero & Kompany to injury? Thus losing Wednesday and Sunday?
You understand the injury crisis right? He may still lose, he may lose both and some of it will be his fault. Some fault will be placed on underperformance players, some on a unrivalled injury crisis and some on a woefully unbalanced squad.
If we had a fully fit squad, he binned off the FA Cup, then lost two more games it would be his fault. Facts are he won't. So it's not all on him. If he plays Caballero though, that's suicide.
As for the FA Cup, we must have some of the most fickle fans about. No doubt the sales fans saying we disrespected the cup will be the same ones not attending finals or semi finals due to cost or time. Like it or not, the FA Cup is a joke now. Most teams make huge changes for it, we did no different, just our squad players are all injured.
Liverpool made 11 changes against West Ham. Only their fans are too interested in their own team to listen to the idiotic media.
I love the FA Cup but I agree with pretty much everything you've said there. Pellegrini has always played strong sides in this competition so anybody saying he's disrespected it needs to give their heads a wobble. As you said, loads of teams make big changes for FA Cup games but with the Kiev game and League Cup final looming, coupled with our injuries, something was always going to give with this match. And let's be fair here - Pellegrini warned weeks ago that he was going to do this which gave those fans thinking of attending the game a heads up in advance. A lot of managers wouldn't do that for an FA Cup match and just make sweeping changes without giving much warning to the fans that have forked out good money on match tickets.
