I would still have to disagree because your sentiment is very general and perhaps speaks to Pellegrini's ability and decision over h course of the season. We all have our opinions on Pellegrini's tenure at the club. I'm one of those who is against him, in that 'overall' respect. I simply don't think he's good enough, to put it in one sentence. Nevertheless...

This decision, in this particular situation was the right gamble. If you want to discuss the fact that these kids should have been supplementing rotation yonks ago, or they should have been getting more chances in general... well, that's a whole 'nother topic to debate. My intuition tells me that we'd probably be on the same side of that argument. But this specific decision surrounding this controversy... he's done what's best for the club. Disrespectful to English tradition... yes, perhaps. Best for the club all day. If you would like to list the pros and cons of either decision, (taking the element of gamble into account,) I think there's only going to be one winner.

very big week for pellegrini and it could end very bad for him if we lose the 2 games or should we lose the league cup it maybe lead to the board jumping right now and give pellegrini the boot and let brain kidd have the 12 games to get us back on track and keep us in the top 4 that's is the bottom line for me. 4th place a must for pep to have time to get the right players he wants right now and champions league will be the key to any superstars coming in the summer

Agree fully. Peller has been falling in my estimation for some time now but in this instance he had little choice but play the kids. Personally I think any 11 we could have fielded yesterday would most likely have come up short. Also whatever the traditionalists may feel the CL is a far bigger competition both in terms of revenue and prestige and is always likely to be given priority. Batter the manager if you wish, there is plenty of ammunition available, but on this one I feel he was right

Any plan that has the words 'Brian Kidd' and 'masterminding the remaining 12 games' in the same sentence, paragraph or is even on the same fucking page needs to be incinerated and then never spoken about ever again.

A tiny bit of me can understand yesterdays actions........just. However I still find it a bit sickening that we meekly surrendered by playing a team that realistically had no chance of winning that game. I know time moves on and all that but this was the competition that put us back on the map only a few years ago and it just doesn't sit right with me, let alone the supporters who forked out money and spent hours travelling. Yeah, if we win the League Cup and/or the Premier League / Euro Cup it may be cited as sensible but it can never be proved and the chances of winning either of the 'Big' competitions look slimmer as the weeks pass. Ultimately our mythical squad depth and poor purchasing is costing us. When we won the league twice in 3 seasons we had at least 3 contributing strikers to call on and now we really only have Sergio - when fit. We have NO natural left-sided attacking players to provide width and balance or a young midfield dynamo that we can rely on. All of the senior centre-backs have had problems with form, confidence, ability or injuries. Caballero made a great save yesterday but was generally very ordinary......and that is putting it mildly
We simply MUST put everything into beating the scousers this Sunday and I hope the coaching staff and players actually seem to have a plan, concentrate for 90 + minutes and look coherent in a big game for a change

I don't think Pellegrini can take full blame for the fact the kids played yesterday. It's a clear priority from the main board to progress in the CL. Add in the fact there's a chance of a trophy on Sunday and the FA Cup game was the third in terms of importance (based on the board's opinion).

I don't share that view. For me we should have used younger players more frequently. The board have been weak in terms of player management and we've kept several on beyond their time and are suffering because of it. You have to replenish the side with young players and with new talent to instill energy, commitment and competition. We've not done that. We've had so many games that all senior players have had to play, they know even if they play shite they'll get another game and that's not healthy. Yesterday it was largely the senior guys who let us down. A poor clearance by Fernando, poor defending by Demi and Kolarov and poor keeping from Caba. Yes we gave the ball away too much second half but the young guys showed that had they been used earlier in the season (one or two at a time) they'd have done a great job. That would have kept the squad fresh and also given the young lads enough experience to potentially warrant the faith of the manager in other games.

Away in Kiev the priority is surely to try and get an away goal but stay compact and be hard to break down. If Garcia had featured more this season, he might have been just the man to show composure in the centre away in Kiev. That would allow someone else a game yesterday or against Liverpool in the cup. I get why we had to rotate but these players should have been tested earlier in the season. Throwing so many in at once wasn't the best idea, but they did well and I'm proud of how the younger lads performed.

Most fans will have their own take and will agree/disagree with what the board have decided. In my opinion whilst the CL is important we will not win it without a hell of a lot of luck whereas the FA Cup was a real chance to do something. Having said that, if Aguero, Silva, Kompany etc had have been injured yesterday I'd have probably whinged about team selection!

It is what it is and I just hope the young lads are trusted more now, because they showed they can be integrated without too many issues. If Kompany, Silva and Fernandinho had have been on instead of say Nacho, Fernando and Demi we'd have had players able to just show a bit more composure and aid the younger lads a bit. We played some cracking one touch football at times, but perhaps overplayed a bit and also didn't keep the ball enough. Silva and Ferny could have assisted in that so in the future a good blend of experience and youth will work just fine regardless of the competition.

He is in charge of the first team, so he makes those decisions.. he might have told others what he was doing. But i doubt he would ask for permission.

Disagree mate as the image of the club was in the headlights for that game and I would be amazed if the manager alone would make that call knowing what the media repercussions would be.
