I don't think Atletico's board really give a shit about the rivalry. They couldn't sell players like Torres or Aguero to Real because the fans would literally go apeshit, due to the hero status they had earned. Falcao however was himself bought for big money and wouldn't be the same case as selling a Torres or Aguero to the fans.
