Chelsea have won the league once in the last 8 seasons.

They didn't win it 7 times with much better teams than they have now.

Blues really need to stop shitting themselves about them.

How about this way! Chelsea won the league 3 times in 10 seasons.
They did not win it in the other seasons as they did not have Jose Mourinho.
Teams should be aware of a team that has a complete look about them.
Yeah that Ancelotti **** was useless.
Btw Maureen has won it twice in 4 years at Chelski and once in 3 in Spain. Hardly a guarantee of league success.

He left in September in his final season. If we had won that year under Grant you'd hardly credit that to Mourinho.

He left in early 07/08, after finishing runner up to the scum in 06/07 and finished third last year, I don't blame him for the season he left, otherwise I would have said 2 in 5. correct me if I'm wrong.

Oh no you're right, my mistake.

They just added Remy now. Good pacy attacker, can be used on wings too, good option from bench when parked bus teams have to be opened some with some extra pace/width option. Also wasnt expensive at all.
Seems eerily similar to Demba Ba Mk.II to me. Striker scores a few goals for Newcastle, available on cut price fee, moves to Chelsea where he never play any games before being sold for half what they paid in a couple of years.
Jose signed him only to piss Wenger off.
No way was that to mess with Wenger, Jose can do that easy enough without having to spend millions of £ doing it.
Demba Ba was at Chelsea when Jose came, there is no way he would spend millions of £ for a player to sit him on the bench,
he will get plenty of game time & goals no worries.

I am asking this question here because the example I intend to use is Torres, but it is a general footballing question and I'm sure there are other similar situations:

Why is it that when a player has patently under-performed at a particular club (for instance, Torres at Chelsea) they still expect to receive their old salary once they have moved on.

I think Torres was on 175k a week, which is understandable based on his Liverpool record.

Yet obviously - for whatever reason (age/injuries) he is no longer the same player. But his move was delayed whilst a club could be found who would match his Chelsea salary.

I don't understand.
Because the vast majority are money grabbing leeches, & the more the clubs pander to their extremes they will screw what ever they can.

I don't expect footballers to voluntarily take a paycut. But most of them don't waste much time knocking on the door for a payrise after a good run of form.

We've won it twice in three seasons and the time we didn't win it we didn't have manuel pellegrini.
Chelsea had Maureen last year and didn't win it.
We never had decent strikers either, but came pretty darn close, now we have a complete striker department give me a shout end of season.

Carlo should never have been sacked IMHO.
What can anyone guarantee in football, the EPL is the hardest league to win, but I would rather go with Jose than
Pellegrini who struck lucky last season because Chelsea were without a decent strike force, unlike Man C who
had a very powerful front four with arguable the worlds No1 striker leading them.
