Chelsea Thread 2014/15

They just added Remy now. Good pacy attacker, can be used on wings too, good option from bench when parked bus teams have to be opened some with some extra pace/width option. Also wasnt expensive at all.
Seems eerily similar to Demba Ba Mk.II to me. Striker scores a few goals for Newcastle, available on cut price fee, moves to Chelsea where he never play any games before being sold for half what they paid in a couple of years.

My exact thoughts, soon as I saw the transfer confirmed I thought Ba Mk II!

Just watched MOTD and gained a bit of confidence from it.

Everton's defending was woeful. The 2nd Chelsea goal was clearly offside. And Chelsea concede 3, should have been 4.

The 6-3 headline makes everyone think they are motoring but actually it demonstrates a whole load of issues.

They are not the finished article any more than we are.

if remy failed his medical at Liverpool, how did he pass one at Chelsea?
Mourinho said we spoke to some specialists about his condition and he's happy that he's fine to play.

We had the best defence in the league by quite a margin last season, that was just a ridiculous game. Mourinho won't let that last long, he was visibly annoyed even when we were 3 up. Our problem last season was scoring goals, especially against organised defences, like you with Stoke yesterday. We have certainly addressed that issue.

The issue is the balance. Jose will want to fix the defence but will that come at the expense of your (current) attacking play?

We're not really playing an attacking system in the same way you do, we only had 38% possession against Everton yet scored 6. It's not really that different from what he tried to do last season except we couldn't convert enough chances or release runners fast enough. I've given up trying to predict what Mourinho will do but I know he won't be happy shipping 3 goals in a game. He said himself that it wasn't good enough.

Jose signed him only to piss Wenger off.

Probably not much. I can imagine he will restrict the full backs going up so much and ask the wide men to get back more, but I don't think he will alter the formation much. Even at the moment when Oscar plays it almost is a 4--3-3 rather than a 4-2-3-1.
