Chelsea Thread 2014/15

Whatever the defensive failings of either team Chelsea looked good going forward. Great pace and exciting, I can only hope they suffer multiple injuries and much tiredness as the season progresses.

They just added Remy now. Good pacy attacker, can be used on wings too, good option from bench when parked bus teams have to be opened some with some extra pace/width option. Also wasnt expensive at all.

Chelsea no NOT f*ck about in the transfer market

I am asking this question here because the example I intend to use is Torres, but it is a general footballing question and I'm sure there are other similar situations:

Why is it that when a player has patently under-performed at a particular club (for instance, Torres at Chelsea) they still expect to receive their old salary once they have moved on.

I think Torres was on 175k a week, which is understandable based on his Liverpool record.

Yet obviously - for whatever reason (age/injuries) he is no longer the same player. But his move was delayed whilst a club could be found who would match his Chelsea salary.

I don't understand.

He has a right to expect it because to be paid for the rest of his contract becuase that's what was agreed between Chelsea and Torres.

I imagine when that finishes(after his loan spell at AC) he ill have to take a huge pay cut if he doesn rediscover his previous form or Utd bid for him

So in four years time, Rooney could still be on 300k a week??? Why do clubs agree to these ridiculous contracts?

To keep the player at the club, so they can get a transfer fee etc...

Can see shrek being hard to move on in a couple of years time. Probably a situation like we had before where we were paying most of the players wages while they get loaned out.

Like Santa Cruz ?

But what I don't get is why offer a 5 year deal to a 28 yr old (Shrek) ditto Falcao - although that is more complex. Are they compelled to buy him , no matter what happens in the next 9 months?

Bottom line is, I wish I were a) half the age I am and b) good at football !!!

Chelsea have won the league once in the last 8 seasons.

They didn't win it 7 times with much better teams than they have now.

Blues really need to stop shitting themselves about them.

How about this way! Chelsea won the league 3 times in 10 seasons.
They did not win it in the other seasons as they did not have Jose Mourinho.
Teams should be aware of a team that has a complete look about them.

We've won it twice in three seasons and the time we didn't win it we didn't have manuel pellegrini.
Chelsea had Maureen last year and didn't win it.
