Chelsea Thread 2014/15

Re: Chelsea - Season Unbeaten?

I don't think you can go a season unbeaten absorbing pressure, and relying on a breakaway against the better teams, yes they are very good at it but sooner or later those chances will go in.

Re: Chelsea - Season Unbeaten?

An injury to Matic would be absolutely huge for Chelsea.

They'd be replacing a monster in midfield with John Obi Mikel.

It's too early to predict whether they will or not - anything could happen!

We get this fear every year now with our rivals, although usually later in the season.

2012 there was this conviction on the forum "United won't drop any more points - look at their fixtures". We all know what happened next. Last season exactly the same with Liverpool.

The only team who ever went unbeaten were head and shoulders above everyone else. Chelsea aren't.

Not even just later in the season. This time last year people genuinely though Arsenal were going to win the league.

Re: Chelsea - Season Unbeaten?

Hard to tell, they do really look solid and looking at the rest of the teams in the league I can not see them losing silly points. But football is a funny sport and you never know. I can only see one team capable of finishing above them at the end. And chelsea will lose one game at least (Chelsea 0-Man City 1)

Re: Chelsea - Season Unbeaten?

Their next 6 games include 4 away trips to Utd, Liverpool, Sunderland and Palace. Regardless of whether they remain unbeaten , I can see them dropping 4 to 6 points while , I believe, we will drop a maximum of 2 and so start the process of clawing them back

You know it is a game I could see them losing if Mourinho gives them too much respect and sets out to defend instead of getting at them. If he sits back as Everton did in the first half yesterday then the rags have players than can score. If on the other hand Chelsea go for it and put them under pressure then it should be an easy Chelsea win. But I can see Mourinho reverting to type at the swamp.

Re: Chelsea - Season Unbeaten?

It's wa-aay too early to be talking about this. Anyone who disagrees, should look at our 2011/12 season. Chelsea has 5 more wins before they even equal the start we made. They have played only 3 games away so far, and only one against a rival (us) when they looked decidedly second best for most of the game, despite Zabs' ridiculous red card.

I still maintain they will struggle on the road against defensively well organized teams as they did on occasions last year (Palace, Villa, Sunderland). Us aside, they have only to-date visited Burnley and Everton, both of whom are leaking goals like there's no tomorrow.

Re: Chelsea - Season Unbeaten?

If they don't lose a game, they will finish the season unbeaten. If they lose a game, they will not. Simple.
