I'd expect the red card decision to be upheld. Gomis may have take the ball away form goal but that was to avoid the 'keeper, it was still clearly under his control and not taken away from him - he next touch would likely have been to put it in the back of an empty net . If it was a couple of yards away from him and he'd struggled to get to it and get a shot off, fair enough, but that was not the case. Sky said something yesterday about a decision being made tomorrow, but not said it since.

As Jamie Carragher pointed out last night though, to go round the keeper the ball has to be going in a direction away from goal, it's almost impossible to take it round him in any other way, the fact he still was able to keep up with it is why it was a goal scoring opportunity, red card all day and he should get an extra ban for the appeal.

Sourinho is taking the piss as usual.

The ref could quite easily have judged it to be serious foul play (3 match ban), given that Courtois caught him knee high with his boot.

He looked slow and ponderous against Swansea at the weekend though. Hope to fuck he's the same in their next outing.

He's never been a small lad and one of those who bulks a bit in pre-season though it is still performing late on in the year so obviously not an issue for him.

I think most right backs would have looked in trouble on Sunday, Montero was having one of those games. When you're up against a quick, tricky winger who is on fire then even the best can look clumsy and slow.
