There was nothing he could do.
He could not enter the field of play and physically haul the player off.
If anything, the Chelsea captain should have quickly weighed up the situation and acted accordingly .
Blaming the manager ,in this instance,is showing complete disregard for the reality of the situation, given the laws of the game.
I don't disagree that he was powerless at the time. My point is that his feet shouldn't have touched the ground after the match. There should be appropriate sanction against him. My point is that his position as leader, strategist and organiser of the group that is the Chelsea playing squad is made impossible and untenable by this act of subordination. His authority has been successfully challenged and he's backed down without a whimper. He needed to reassert his authority and he hasn't done it. Being fined a week's wages and being made to apologise doesn't cut it for me. He needed to be dropped for the rest of the season to make a point. As a football fan, I'm seething that he could do what he did and get away with it. By their handling of this situation, Chelsea FC has let down the whole of football.

Agreed. Sarri let himself down when he made those comments to the media after the match, absolving Kepa of any blame. It left him with nowhere to go.

So, Arrizabalaga is fined a week's wages and makes a public apology for refusing to be substituted. All seems rather draconian for what we were led to believe was simply a breakdown in communication and a misunderstanding.

DOn't remember seeing this Emerson guy before, he was pretty good yesterday.

BTW, what was Zinchenko disappointed about there, lol

Chelsea fans have screaming for him to start games since last season really - I have no idea why both Conte and Sarri appeared so fixated on Alonso. Emerson is a clearly several levels above Alonso in terms of technique, pace, dribbling, passing, defending and most importantly, a coherent understanding with Hazard down that left side.

That 10 second clip is a good insight into what his brings to this team.

I think Zinchenko was trying clear it in a different direction instead of giving the corner away.

Sarri essentially said after the game that he was working on incomplete information when he tried to substitute him (the physio hadn't relayed Kepa's message that he was just time-wasting, and not injured), so Kepa was right in wanting to stay on but the way he went about it was incorrect.

Just thinking about Raz scoring the winning penalty yesterday, and the karma that that moment represented, I was wondering if anything ever happened to those gobshites who racially abused him at Stamford Bridge? I certainly don't remember hearing anything more after the first few days after the game. Anyone?

I haven't really heard much since the initial incident when it was all anybody was talking about - he appeared to have lost his job over it, and he was questioned by police - which, I don't know, to me seems like punishment enough. Chelsea also banned him from Chelsea games for life.

And even manages to find time to occasionally play in goal for us.

Should hire Mancini for a week to Handle the situation.

Sorry, but I remain unconvinced. I'm quite sure that he wanted to use Caballero as a tactical substitution and that decision was stymied by Arrizabalaga's refusal to obey orders. Why on earth Sarri was then lambasting the hapless Caballero is another question.
