Pedro and Morata are shocking in the press - it is so half-hearted and so easy to play out against. Jorinho was basically left holding the can on his own in midfield - Fabregas was useless when City had possession, Barkley just lacks the tactical awareness and discipline to play at this level. Again, it has been 3 weeks and we were missing our 2 best players.
So were we!
;-)

My Chelsea mate who has now fallen out of love with football due to the money YCMIU tells me apart from Sterling, Kev and Dave, oh and Eddie we played a full side whereas they were missing giants such as Christensen, Kante, William, Hazard, Giroud, Cahill, Courtois & Bakayoko ...would have made all the difference.

See above comment.

I thought it was funny listening to some commentators ask if Sarri’s style of play was too much for the Chelsea squad given that they weren’t at their best and then talk about how great Guardiola and City where. No one mentioned that it took City a season to adopt and that some players adapted great and others not so had to be replaced. So why wouldn’t Chelsea be more or less the same.

I think Chelsea should be building for next season with top 4 and a cup final abig bonus in the meantime.

We still finished 3rd with our aging fullbacks and mainly an old squad.

The most worrying thing for Chelsea in that game, other than the centre forward, should be the lack of athleticism imo.

And especially Jorginho, who has been brought in as the centrepiece but significantly added to that problem. They will have to either abandon that plan & just use him as a bog standard centre mid or play a 'minder' for him in most games, which taks a position out of the team.

It shouldn't be that difficult at all for Chelsea's players to adapt to the way Sarri wants to play, quite quickly. They have a squad full of quality footballers. But they have to want to do it & they didn't look particularly enthusiastic.

The takeaways from the Charity Shield game for me, with regard to Chelsea are as follows:
1) Rudiger and especially Luiz are a liability at CB;
2) Chelsea's squad is not fit enough in midfield to implement Sarri's intense pressing game;
3) Chelsea may well lack a center forward suitable for Sarri's style of play;
4) Several key players aren't yet nailed down to play for Chelsea next season;
5) Sarri was brought in very late and the mess he's inherited isn't his fault.

Jorginho did give the ball away numerous times under pressure; but he was class for Nappoli in Sarri's system. Probably just an off game in a new team.
