Chelsea Thread - 2022/23 | Pochettino confirmed as new manager

I was a bit surprised at their squad over the past two games given how much they've spent. A few of us saying "who?" and "I'm glad he starts!". Genuinely didn't realize Mount or Jorginho started the game until I read the post match report, I thought they'd come on as second half subs. Buying all the Fofana's because you heard one may be a wonderkid is not a valid transfer strategy.

I really rate Potter but I'd be surprised if he stays. They've wasted millions though, I suppose we shouldn't be too vocal though as we had their pants down for sterling. Or is that expression offensive now also I wonder, being as it refers to both money and arses? Note I don't make assumptions about the age, sexuality or gender of the money or arses, just to be safe.

Just seems to be no strategy from Boehly, he reminds me of Yosemite Sam jumping up and down, firing off his pistols, demanding his own way, hoping more bullets will somehow fix everything.

Boehly reminds me a little of the guy who fronted for Mansour in the first few weeks of the takeover. All talk, all over the place and little substance. I really wonder if they shouldn't have someone else up there who knows what they are doing.

Not his fault the club is a shambles top, middle & bottom with an owner who hasn't got a clue.

All the top, experieced executives have left and they have one of the most unbalanced, operated squads in the league....oh and Starling !!

They haven't made any logical signings, it's all been throwing money about without a strategy and now they have a manager who is trying to create his system but doesn't have the players to implement it. I like Potter but the Chelsea fans and those players will force him out pretty quickly.

No Champion's League next season, 800m loan interest charges at ever increasing commercial rates, a 500m squad amortisation and a possible pay off for Potter will add up to staggering numbers. They won’t be able to spend anywhere near the money they need to, could be in huge trouble.

Mount is a c**t
How the fuck Gallagher made the England World Cup squad is beyond baffling.
And give the inflatable Champions league balloons a rest now you small time pricks .

As long as it upsets you then long may it continue :)

Looking at the injury list… it’s 4 first team players that are out really.

Chilwell
James
Kante
Sterling (hardly ripping up trees)

They’ve lost a few squad players as well. But for a team that’s cost what it has to assemble, there is no way they should have been hammered by us in the way they were today. No fight and no idea. They made 6 changes, we made 7 and finished the game with 3 academy products on the pitch.

I’m a fan of Potter but he does look out of his depth. A huge criticism of him during his Brighton days was that his side didn’t score enough, or even at all. For all the pretty patterns there was no end product.

I have a few mates that are Brighton season ticket holders and they weren’t as gutted as I thought they might be when he left. They trust in the system they have there, the scouting network is brilliant and the new manager has simply picked up the squad and run with it, and now there is an end product.

Well 6 starters (7 if you consider Mendy a starter but he had already lost his place before his injury) and then some of the back up players like Pulisic, RLC, Broja etc also being injured. That would cripple any squad, no matter how expensively assembled. It doesn't help that Koulibaly, Cucurella has so far looked like terrible signings.

Where on earth is FFP? Why does it only apply to us and PSG?

It shouldn’t exist at all, but it’s crazy how some clubs seem to be completely exempt

These aren't Potter's players. Once the season got started it stopped again for 6 weeks so he can't get his ideas across and see them beginning to work. He also has more than half his squad missing. If these are the criteria for getting sacked then we're all in trouble.

3 points behind the scousers and pundits are pulling the lever for the trapdoor.

Very strange fanbase, completely devoid of humour, sing relentlessly about beating us in the European Cup, but couldn't sell 5000 tickets for it

Obviously it would be humourless to you because you're the target of the songs. I bet you didn't find it so humourless when we constantly sang about Gerrard slipping on his arse :)
