Mount's issue as I understand it is that he wanted wage parity with Reece James.

Mase has been superb for us overall and we love him, but that love is rapidly diminishing for me now as I don't see his position as reasonable.

Reece James is arguably one of the best RBs in Europe. Show me a top club who wouldn't take him if given the chance.

Mount is a good, reliable midfielder, but is he in anyone's 'one of the best' category? Probably not. I don't think he gets into the City side, for example.

Egos..

The squad will reduce. These are the players who have either already left or close to leaving.

Havertz
Kovacic
Kante
Koulibaly
Mendy
Ziyech
Mount
Azpi
Auba
Loftus-Cheek

We’ve already sent Felix and Zakaria back to their clubs.
That’s 12 players and there are further rumours about Pulisic and Chalobah (who I really hope stays), if they leave also that’s 14 players.

And we don’t know what’s happening with Lukaku, but it seems like Chelsea do not want him back here under any circumstances.

So far we’ve only brought in Nkunku plus Gusto and Colwill as returning loanees plus very close to announcing Jackson from Villarreal. So 4 incoming potentially 12 who have left or close to leaving.

If squad size was 33 last season, minus 12 plus 4 make it 25 players.

That’s some excellent reshuffle if Poch has a lean mean 25 man squad full of top quality it will only take him a few months to get them jellying and pushing for top four and cups..

If Reece James could stay fit then, imo, he would be as good as any right back I’ve seen. Mount is a good but not exceptional player as you say.

Most of those were poor signings

Couple of things for you ponder.

Azpi - signed for £7m in 2012. Over a decade of excellent service, and been the club captain the last 4 years or so.
Mount - academy graduate, been at Chelsea since 8 years old. Not a signing. Also, excellent player.
Loftus-Cheek - academy graduate, been at Chelsea since 7 years old. Not a signing. Also very useful squad player.

Koulibaly, Ziyech and Auba, fully agree with you.

I'm optimistic but I'm in the wait and see phase. I want to see us actually do the business and trim the squad then have a decent preseason.

There's nothing wrong with what Chelsea are doing. The issue I have is the difference in media (and PL) attitude to what they are doing compared to the abuse hurled in our direction for every single thing our club does. But that's fuck all to do with Chelsea. Good luck to them.

The big difference is that they didn't get charged with shit. If we didn't get charged all the abuse would have been just laughed off.
