we will because there is nothing about his dribbling that is world class, yes he can beat a man, so can doku, anthony gordon and a multitude of players and none of those players would be even in the conversation for being world class, messi was a world class dribble and sterling aint that, thats not to say he isnt a good player he is but not in the world class bracket

Fair enough, agree to disagree.

I guess the heat Sterling gets takes the pressure off Enzo, who is still to prove he’s a £20m player, let alone a £110m one.

That's extremely unfair. He's been a bit below par the last 2 games I'd say but he's always been the shining light in this team since he got here. Also there's literally no heat on Sterling. There's more heat on Gallagher, Chilwell, Mudryk and Poch. Other players like Disasi and Silva also get more criticism this season than Sterling.

Between 2017-2020 he was.
I'd argue he was world class between 2016 and 2022 (except for that year period where he clearly fell out with Pep over something). Played over 300 games, scored over 100 goals, won a bucket-load of trophies with us. He's City's 11th highest goalscorer of all time and one of the most decorated players to ever wear the sky blue shirt. Deserves more respect than he gets imo. He had his limitations but the things he was good at were rare and special gifts. An incredibly talented player who would be raved about on here if he'd had the exact same record but played for us in the 70s and 80s.

After the Liverpool and West Ham games, which I felt I we played really well in, I’d hoped we’d go on a winning run with what looks like a run of winnable fixtures on paper. So yeah, deeply disappointing to lose today. Still early in the season, but losing games like this makes me question whether we have it in us to get top 4.
I know your post was three and a half a weeks ago and I’m just catching up, but it seems that post could have been posted again today and still felt relevant. I’ve watched all your games* so far this season (I record most games to have on during the day) and genuinely think Chelsea should have probably won 5 of the 6 you’ve played.

How have your management spent so much money without buying a forward that can hit 20-30 goals a season? It’s mad how poor the finishing has been but on the flip side, you can surely only under perform your xG for so long until it reverts to the mean?

Chelsea fans would expect to win their next four League games, since thereafter it becomes arguably tougher. Will presumably take Pochettino some time to figure out who he wants and can trust to play, yet keeping so many happy will be another challenge for him. Think it will be a long season with many teams in the mix.
Thing is, Ange at Spurs is making a mockery of the whole “a new manager needs time” argument.

No champs league for this lot
I’m sure I read an Athletic long read that basically said “if Chelsea don’t get CL this season, they’re proper fucked” financially, especially having no short sponsor. That’s somewhere in the region of £150m+ missing from their balance sheet this season alone and companies won’t be queuing round the block to sponsor them next season either.

Forest one those teams who sit back defend very well always going to be hard to break down!

Chelsea will play better against teams who dominate player not sit back and why poch did well at spurs..
Yeah tbf it took us nearly 8 minutes to score our first.

I honestly don’t understand what he does. He’s not a goal threat and he’s not a ball winner. What does he do?

Why have you only won 3 games with him in the team?

Sterling's overall ability might not be world class but his attitude is. Or was when at City.
He never sulked after missing chances, always looked for the ball, and didn't hide when the cloggers targeted him rather than Spanish Dave.

There's truth in that, especially when Postecoglou is new to the league and Pochettino is not. That said, the latter is working with more new players, many of them younger, and that will have its own headaches.
